I just found what may be the last two Bucanero cigars, left, at least in my collection.
I just stumbled across, a Full Sale, and a Pegleg.
Damn I miss these cigars. There wasn't a dog in the pack. I just fired up, the Full Sail, and it instantly took me back to an awesome time in my life.
I had just moved back to Arkansas, after living in Southern California followed by 2 years in Montana. And I was working about 3 days a week, as a way to keep myself busy, in what I thought was partial retirement. I discovered C-bid, and my hardcore cigar collecting began. I had been smoking cigars, pretty regularly, since I was introduced to them by mt NA sponsor. I had bought cigars, up until then, at the local cigar shop. With Arkansas tobacco taxes, so high. I was not smoking but a couple on the weekend, always A Fuentes. After, finding this place, I became the proverbial kid in the candy shop. I went nuts. Outgrew my Humidor, and started filling Coolerdors. CAO Cameroon, became a quick favorite, followed soon by the maduro. Then I discovered Perdomo, Cupido, and then Bucanero. Holy Sheep Excrement Batman. I fell in LOVE. The Full Sail was the first I experienced. I quickly started bidding on boxes, and 5vers. Back then C-bid didn't offer singles., so the fiver was the smallest you could bid on. Then when I had a nice stash, of Full Sails, I thought if they did such a great job, on the Full Sail, I wonder what the other offerings from Bucanero, like. So I started ordering them up. I remember the Texas Star, but can't remember many, they were all amazing cigars. But then I smoked my first PegLeg. It quickly became my go to cigar. I smoked hundreds of the things. Great cigars. For sure my favorite stick of the line. So tonights' find is a little bitter sweet. These may be the last in existence , and I am burning the Full Sail first. I am loving this cigar. I have to save the Pegleg for last, since the Full Sail was my First Bucanero, it is only fitting, that it is the first to go. I am not sure when I will get around to the Peg Leg, but it will truly be a sad, but tasty day, knowing that I will never smoke that blend again. If it were not for C-bid, I would have never gotten a chance to feel this level of Love, and heartbreak, for some rolled up leaves.

You make me wish I had smoked one of those.

I know the feeling though, of having one left of a cigar you love. I feel that way about my last Perdomo Cabinet Selection Maduro from about '06. I don't want it to be gone, but it's only valuable to me if I smoke it. I moved it up to the tray. Won't be long. Pretty sure I got it on CBid too.

Haven't had my hands on any for years. Still remember the Z, Full Sail, Salsa and Texas Star as great cigars.

The old saying was "smoke them, they'll make more" but not always. I'm surprised nobody has bought out the name and resurrected the line.

I did a search, and found that they have the brand up for sale. Wish someone would buy it and release them, as long as the blends and construction remained the same, or as close as you can get.

I miss Bucanero cigars.

I really liked Z, the Full Sail and the Salsa. Back in the day when I started smoking cigars, Bucanero was always on the auction bid and in my top ten of smokes. Depending on the cigar, it was a Dominican and Nicaraguan blend and a criollo wrapper or maduro wrapper... That's right down my alley.

They made some great cigars. You could find them on auction or online frequently. I was sad when they closed down but I got over it. Still miss them though.

yeah...DMV informed us when Bucanero was closing up shop a few years ago...I was fortunate enough to make a final purchase when they still had a robust assortment from which to choose...Z, Full Sail, Windjammer, Don Douglas and El Capitan were all good smokes...I may have one Douglas and one Capitan left...

Kinky Friedman was another brand that disappeared around that time...the Texas Jewboy and the Big Richard were two very good smokes...smoked the last one a few months ago...

Sorry Dave. I know firsthand the feeling of burning my last Full Sail (barring some kind of miracle find at a shpo). Fortunately I was able to build up a considerable lot of Bucanero Catalina cigars that are still smoking quite well. It was a real find of a lifetime meeting with Robert and later his brother Johnny and considering them friends. Sharing with the trade board here and Slim was able to get CBid to carry them here! We would talk cigars, sure...also baseball, basketball and football. I don't think Robert would mind if I shared that he hung in there till he could no more. Unfortunately he had a series of strokes and considers being alive with the lovely Catalina (of which the cigars he custom made for her enjoyment!) and golfing all he's going to do. I wish I would've taken him up on an offer of being a West Coast rep after Johnny stepped away, who knows where that journey would've lead. I was in a much different place than I am now. Maybe if I hit the lotto, I'd consider buying it just to get it back out in circulation again. Everyone that has ever had one knew they were a special line of cigars. Quality and price rivals of nobody. Even gave Padron a run for their money with the Z line. There wasn't a bad line, just the sweet spot for my tastebuds was the Full Sail. It was everything to me.

Either:
(A) you guys really loved these cigars, or
(B) someone found a huge stash of dog rockets and wants to gin up interest before offering them for sale.

Not sure which...

I really liked the Bucanero cigars that I bought. They were on my rotation when they were available. I would still buy them if they were available at the quality, flavor, and so forth that was I accustomed to. I wouldn't put them in the dog rocket category. I would rate them far from that. I'd rank them at the Padron X000 level or above that.

Sadly they are no longer sold. Good things come to an end eventually.

If given a choice at a between a Padron X000 (which I love) or a Bucanero Full Sail or Salsa, I'd take the Bucanero since it's a dead blend and I can buy more Padrons.

I LOVED them. Still do.

Unless you have a very clueless shpo near you that's got inventory issues...they're gone. Only to be seen again IF someone buys out Robert lock, stock and barrel.

I'm certainly not doing any kinda "pump and dump" or lead anyone on. Simply mourning the loss of a really great cigar made by a couple of brothers that really cared about their craft.
