Would you allow your pet to be sacraficed in order to see the Sox win a WS ??? ... cut off the tip of a little finger as Ronnie Lott did to play and help the 49ers to a Super Bowl win? How 'bout no beer for a year? ... or give up cigars? (oh, now THAT was bad of me, wasn't it?)

But ... what WOULD you sacrafice ... just how badly do you want to see them win?

not a Sox fan.

I am just really surprised with how poorly the Cards are playing and don't think the Sox fans have to sacrifice anything.

In contrast to what cexshun think these are the best 2 teams in baseball but only one showed up. I am sure that when it is over we will hear how the birds were tired and the Sox had an extra day of rest with no travel.

You're probably right ... even if those aren't the excuses that'll be made, you can be sure some will be.
It's been my observation in life, that when an excuse is needed, one can be found.

Interestingly enough, the same excuses for losing are sometimes given as valid reasons for winning ... take that day off, for example ... had it been the other way around, there'd have been those who said that the day off for the Sox allowed their attention span to go down while the Cards were maintaining their focus ...

We can't sell our souls. Well, not twice anyways.

As for any "excuse" that the cards may employ, realize this: They may have had one fewer day rest, and they did have to travel, but they did NOT battle back from an 0-3 deficit.
They did NOT exhaust every resource and risk the career of their #1 starter.
They did NOT exorcize 86 years of demons, nor shoot their proverbial load by unloading a 300,000 lb gorilla from their shoulders.
They do NOT have to fight the idea that there is a curse surrounding their every move. No reporters will point out to them that they don't simply carry the burden of this years club, but also of all 86 years previous clubs and the entire "Red Sox Nation".
The Cards do NOT have a first year manager who will be questioned to death for every wrong move.

I never predicted a sweep. Heck, I never predicted a victory at all. I know little of the talent in the national league.
But know this: The Red Sox are leading in this best of 7 series because they are playing baseball the way they know how. Not because of the way the Cardinals are not.
This team has found a way to win all season. Pitching duels, slug-fests, and everything in between.

'gater, that description is also accurate of the Cards ... I had expected this WS to be a real nail-biter between two, very evenly matched clubs with very similar styles ... and each one had to use a lot of resources to get through the LCS and each came in a bit nicked up ...

That said ... the Sox have, IMO, over-achieved during the WS, while the Cards have under-achieved, ergo the disparity ... tonight might see each side in a different light, but somehow I think not ... each starting pitcher has a sometimes record of being a bit vulnerable, but methinks that's more true of the Cards guy than the Sox ...

Of course, it might be the other way 'round ... hell, if my crystal ball were as clear as I sometimes make it sound, I'd use it to determine the winning numbers in tonight's Lotto drawing and end my wandering in ;the financial desert ..
