I have gained so much weight over the last 8 months that I feel like a walking P.O.S....EATING the wrong foods, drinking way too much....fog

I know that one BOTL GUY ( handle escapes me) who moved from N.J TO NORTH CAROLINA...HE WAS THE KING OF WINNING BIDS ON C-BID THAT THEY BANNED HIM? and went KETO? he and his wife lost like 40-50 ? Lbs each?

I don't want to go KETO OR VEGAN AT ALL....

WHAT I AM INTERESTED IN IS:

"THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET"

WHO IS ON THAT?

WHAT BOOKS & AUTHORS & DOCTORS NAMES DO YOU FOLLOW?

I STOPPED DRINKING WHISKEY AND GINGER ALE EVERY NIGHT
( 3-4 CANS OF G.A. IS LIKE 28 CANS OF SODA A WEEK!!! CORN SYRUP RUCTOSE OVERLOAD!!!)AND FEEL 60% BETTER....I DID A FEW SHORT FASTINGS THEN ATE SOUP AND FEEL MUCH BETTER...

NOW I NEED A WELL ROUNDED DIET PLAN...

THANKS FOR ANY BOOK SUGGESTIONS...

For about six months, have been drinking more water than ever (64 ounces a day), limit of one alcoholic drink a day. Not every day- twice or three times a week.

Pump some protein in the morning. Yogurt, cottage cheese, protein bats ranging from 10 to 21 grams of protein. Walk five miles a day minimum. In general, it is working well for me. Probably cheaper than following the Mediterranean Diet. I might be wrong.

No alcohol, lots more protein calories than carbs, no processed sugars. Not on any particular diet. 256-196 in about a year

Feel a lot better, especially the no alcohol part. I never really consumed much sugar but the beer carbs and eating chips/cheetos/etc no better than sugar.

I also drink about 4L of water a day. But it's not really necessary to force it. Drink when you're thirsty. I've always been a sweaty person, so my needs are higher. I drink a 32oz thermos of water before I even get out of bed.

Also there's no reason to eat 3 meals a day or snack on stuff. Eat a hearty healthy plate of food when you're hungry, not just because it's lunch time.

Drink your water jones There’s something to that one. I increased my water intake and my back feels better than it ever has. Home cooked meals are much healthier than basically any take out. I do like a bourbon or beers here and there though.

A million ways to do it…..
Here is what works for me.

I generally have an 8 hour “eating” window……usually 6am to about 2pm.
Then I dont eat anymore until the next morning early.

Sleep better, feel better, digestion is waaaay better.
Good for old folks.
Probably not good if you’re diabetic, etc.

Great ideas ...thanks!!!

My only problem...
I got PERIPHERAL FOOT NUEROPATHY 2 WEEKS after my 2 ND Pfizer COVID 19 VACCINE...IS has not gotten any better at all since August of 2021, it is sometimes very painful for me to walk any distances...short or long,..
I used to love to go hiking, or walking a mile or two for exercise, used to love to go hunting and walk all over the mountain for hours on end...
NOT ANYMORE, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE...I think that is why I have gained some of this weight...the other part is for the last 2.5 yrs I drank heavily to relieve my foot pain and escape the pain...it was a vicious cycle that I am
Fighting currently...
I gotta find some comfortable nueropathy shoes but they are all over $100 and my budget is stressed from normal bills...

I am making some slow headway, it will take time but at least I have started with several positive things...thanks for all the input!!

It is really all about moving. I walk Tank around the neighborhood every day. 2.7 miles on the walk and then I go to the gym 3-4 times a week.

I was also a chips, cookies and ice cream kinda guy... now I limit that stuff as much as possible and try to stick to proteins and green vegetables like spinach and broccoli. I'm 183 lbs right now, but 3-4 times a week lifting is putting on muscle.

Keto is limiting your carb intake to 50 grams or less a day and avoiding sugar.

Mediterranean diet is proteins and fruits and vegetables.

Jordan Petersen and his daughter have been doing carnivore. They've eaten nothing but beef for over 5 years and they're both much healthier for it.

Check out this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@SteakandButterGal

She has a couple cardiologists on her podcast that also support and practice the carnivore diet.

Gotta lay off the sauce especially with neuropathy. Once you get those new shoes a dog is a good source of motivation to get up and moving around.

I have lost 8 lbs in 2.5 weeks...just by changing a few things...

No candy at all, no ice cream at all...

No added sugar in anything except cereal which has it put in like cheerios...
( cheerios and quaker oats are now under attack for a new poison pesticide other than round-up...name? Messes with reproduction...so I will buy organic oats after I finish this big box I have...)

Eat a banana every morning.
Eat homemade vegetable beef soup everyday for lunch ( make a 5qt pot...all fresh veges and 1 lb of sirloin steak cooked for 5 hours low simmer, 1/2 a cabbage, green beans, carrots, Brussel sprouts, celery, peas, 32 oz.can italian whole tomatoes , corn fzn from Summertime)

Absolutely stopped drinking any canadian whiskey and gingerale...
No sodas at all...

Only 2 beers late afternoon and two 5 oz. Red wine in evening...

I feel a lot better so far...gonna look further into a real Mediterranean diet
And rice and bean meals with veges...

Taking multivitamin gummy, tumeric, alpha lopaic Acid, multi B VITAMIN , 2000 UNIT VIT D gummy, fish oil capsule, healthy red beet capsule,...every night...

Keep it up man. And if you can completely eliminate alcohol it will help tremendously with how you feel, energy, and the neuropathy. Not gonna reverse anything but will slow or even stop progression. One of the hardest things I've done in my life but by far the most rewarding.

Right before I got sick as a dog last weekend,
I weighed myself and it was 215.2....
At the heighth of "crapinees" I was 230.5...

Feeling way way better until I caught this cold ..
Still didn't try the Mediterranean diet but I cut out all sorts of bad habits and bad food...the caNAdiaN whiskey and gingerale every freakin night was dragging me down and haven't had any of that for 9 weeks...

The banana every morning has been a God send...
No more fast food or sugar, eating lots of stuff with cold extra virgin olive oil on it...took away all other oils...only olive oil now...
No ice cream or candy either...
Made homemade banana bread and that was great.

My guess is I'm at 212 now only because of not eating during this cold...

I hope you feel better soon and shake off whatever bug has got a’holt of ya. Your change in daily diet is admirable. I’m glad to know that your effort is reaping rewards.
