Googly moogly

Disposable and Zippo lighters without fuel are allowed in checked bags. Lighters with fuel are prohibited in checked bags, unless they adhere to the Department of Transportation exemption, which allows up to two fueled lighters if properly enclosed in a DOT approved case.

Absorbed liquid and butane lighters are limited to one lighter per passenger in carry-on or on one's person. When a carry-on bag is checked at the gate or at planeside, any lighter in the carry-on must be removed from the bag and kept with the passenger in the aircraft cabin.

If youre flying overseas I wouldn't recommend taking anything expensive. Cutters or Lighters because cutters have to be checked as well. They steal cutters and lighters under the pretense that they're "contraband".

Just make sure you say “Aloha Snackbar” when they ask if you have anything to declare….

I keep a TSA printout IN my travel humidor.

I do not travel with a lighter. Or do I? If I were to….I would completely purge a cheap torch and put it in my shaving kit in my checked luggage. Buy butane after I land, and hope it works….otherwise look up local BOTL where I’m at using the Abrinac bus driver app. They’ll have a working lighter. But you may have to keep some pre-clipped Victor Sinclairs with ya.

The next trip won't have a checked bag.
A travel humidor to carry a dozen or so cigars in the carry on,
Will buy a cheap lighter when I get there.

Had a simple but nice lighter get snagged by TSA, I pulled out my tablet to their webpage showing it is allowed and they refused it anyway, told me to take it to the car and get back in line or donate it. Supervisor must’ve needed one. Ever since then I take what I’m willing to throw away because it never fails it always gets confiscated. Went through customs and they snagged my lighter and cutter, same officer let my 2 friends right behind me get through with the same. I must have a dark cloud around me.

I fly with a bic in my pocket. Dump it in the tray with my shoes and phone. Never had an issue domestically. Cutter in my herfador with my cigars.

When I landed in Monterrey CA last September and unpacked my bag in my camper, I found a cheap torch lighter in my bag. Forgot it was in there. My bag went through TSA in Chicago, got checked on the walkway, got shipped to Monterrey while I got held overnight in San Francisco. I figured I'd do the same on the flight home. Bag went through TSA in Monterrey, carried on the plane, then got checked on the walkway at LAX and picked up in Chicago.

I've never flown international.

Torches are a no-no, typical TSA consistency.

Torch Lighters

Carry On Bags: No
Checked Bags: No
Torch lighters create a thin, needle-like flame that is hotter (reaching 2,500 F) and more intense than those from common lighters. Torch lighters are often used for pipes and cigars, and maintain a consistent stream of air-propelled fire regardless of the angle at which it is held.

Man, fuggabout what everybody has said so far! You're a man right? I mean, look you're posting here...I don't need to tell you that. Now, what I would do, if I was in your position I'd put like 3 or 4 triple flame lighters in every pocket your clothes have the day you decide to grace the peasants with your presence at the airport of all places. When you arrive if you lose one because of those all night rave parties you're going to host and attend...VIOLA...you have spares! Be an Alpha Man and give some away! Who wouldn't be thankful and return that same gesture in a pay it forward manner that BOTL's invented! If you have them all filled with a premium butane...it's a hot button topic around here...opinions are like buttholes...everyone has one...Personally, Xikar's Purofine has never done me wrong...you'll be one step ahead for the libations!

You show them who's Boss! Who's the Man? YOU'RE the Man!

I'm aware, that's why I throw a Bic in my pocket when flying. Just saying it didn't get caught. Flight home wasn't worried, it ran out after 2 days so it was empty anyway. But they still didn't catch it. They did catch my bottle of contact solution that wasn't in a ziploc bag tho Frying pan

I understand you were aware, I was speaking to the consistent inconsistency of TSA. It doesn’t even fluctuate from airport to airport or different officers, my story of the same person taking my stuff and allowing the next two in line behind me through with the same items was baffling. But I’ve learned to take with me what I’m willing to have them take…cheap ass garbage lighters and cutters.

I went on a cruise almost 2 years ago, I figured they’d check all of our stuff but didn’t think lighters mattered since we’re not going airbound. I packed a good table torch and a junk pocket lighter just in case I ran low on fluid. I get there and they’re scanning my bags, guy says hey you’ve got a lighter that we can’t allow it on the ship. He’s fumbling in the bag trying to find where it was so he asked me. I said it’s right here in this side pocket, I’ll get it for you. I reach in and grab the junk lighter and hand it to him, he was so happy for the help in getting this dangerous item. Herfing

I would not try to got through TSA with any lighter or cutter.

Instead, I simply pack them with my toiletries and check my baggage. Pleanty of problems through TSA, but never on checked luggage. YMMV

Just take one lighter and a gun. They'll be so distracted by the gun they won't even care about the lighter. Then you can mail the gun home.
