Shawn thinks he has problems....

My wife..... well.... let me take you to the Cbid Wayback Machine.

It is end of 2004 or early 2005. At this point, I don't know anybody or who the players are at Cigarbid. I'd have been posting for about a month or two in an irreverant style when I get a private message from somone in California (not MACS) asking for my address, because they wanted to send me something.

Orange and red flags are flying. I share the message with my wife and ask her opinion. She- doesn't like the idea.

After a few messages back and forth between me and Cali Guy, and with some apprehension, I share our address. Decided not to worry my wife with my decision, it will be fine.

The next day, I open up my email and see a tracking number for a package...... and a picture of a muscled up man in a leather dominatrix outfit with spikes with red eyes. Almost pizsed myself. As I'm staring at image I hear "what or who is that?"

That, dear is the man from California who has our home address. The silence was deafening.

Went into Seige Mode. Every firearm in the house iwas fully loaded. Doors locked and garage door down. Was estimating drive times from Cali, wondered how many might be coming. Thankfully it was winter, that might slow the Cali people down. At least my 2 year old won't be outside unattended. Didn't help I was only getting 5 hours of sleep going into this. Now I'm down to 4.

"Why did you give up our address? What were you thinking?!"
Yeah, I know. I'm a moron.

From that moment forward, I was sure to limit who would get our address. In the next two decades I don't think I gave out my address more than 4 times.

In the last 36 hours, Amazon has dropped off two Welcome Mats and a pint glass with a frosted image of a Rotweiler on it. None of them with return addresses on them.

Any guesses as to my wife's reaction?

When I get home I’ll check my book, don’t think I got it….

I may or may not have it, but we haven’t traded and I can’t recall a time I ever drove a bus over someone I hadn’t sent a package to before.

But I’m sure it’s my fault.

more likely it's the kinda place you wipe your feet when you leave.

I've been to your house that you welcomed me in to smoke a cigar when I visit my parents I've met your dog and your wife. I've also been welcomed to smoke a cigar or a few with you at your smoke shop.

Now that I think of it, I could prolly look at the history of Uber drives that I used last year for a pickup in DePerre and Green Bay to find your addy but I would never give it out to a random person.

You save dogs and find a good home for them so if you get a simple Welcome mat and a mug for doing a good deed, that's a good karma.

Is anyone going to fess up to any of the sends?

Black Welcome Mat with a couple of paws 🐾 on it.
Tan one that says Dogs Welcome … People tolerated. That is very My Wife.
A Rottweiler mug.

Also would like the address for the person who shared our address. Can’t say I’m a huge fan.

I don't give out addresses. If the cops want to know where to find them, they have tools to find them on their own.

Or they could just contact the University of Wisconsin. I still get alumni magazines from them even though I've moved half way across the country and have moved a half dozen of times since graduating there around 30 yrs ago.

Did you ever attend UW-Madison? Maybe UW-EC has your addy on file. Do you get Blugold magazines with a the mascot Blu on the cover?

I don't know of anybody who wants their addresses floating around. Whether it is MACS because he's dealing with inmates, Ant'ney when he was a sheriff, or people with less to worry about.

Mine is explained in the initial post. No need to rehash. And things are settling down here. She has said that the mats are nice, although unnecessary. She's just hoping if our addy is in the hands of someone unstable, I am the only target. Thanks?

I did reminder her that Shawn has it. Oh, yeah. Smiled and walked away.

She does want to know who sent them- as do I. She has a rough idea of who a lot of you characters are. She's literally broke dirty with Bucky in our standing garden beds last year.

Bucky,
Are you one of the senders?

She knows I'm unstable. It's a mystery why she likes me. *shrug*

My memory ain't what it used to be. You said that it was an Amazon delivery. I'll have to look at my Amazon purchase history. It says...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTbgsoHDc24

Maybe Santa had some leftovers and needed to clear out some extra inventory or something. I'm sure Santa has your address and maybe sent an Elf or two to drop off some random goods. Do you still have any Christmas lights up?

The classic animated non denial, eh?
Going with that something, somebody close to me (she's about five feet away) says "Thank you, Bucky."
That one will take the place of the one the Rotweiler destroyed.

Very kind, Buckminster.

Busted, I applaud your investigation skills. I'll have to work better on covering my tracks for the future or just not reply to future posts.

In the big picture, you possibly saved another dog's life and helped a family who has the dog and can carry on with a furry friend. Hopefully a welcome member to their family, because of you. You've been doing this stuff for years.

A Franking Welcome mat pales in comparison to what you do for our 4 legged family members and their 2 legged pack that they watch over. Fact not opinion

Another arrival on the mat front.

Showed it to my wife. She asked me to go outside and get the mail.

Grabbed the contents of the box and was on my way back to the house. She halted my entrance by pointing down onto the mat, which reads ….. No Stupid People Beyond This Point.

(Sigh)

This one was not me but I did get a good chuckle from it. Hats off to the perpetrator.

8, you have more than one way to enter the house. I think the "No Stupid People Beyond This Point" only applies to the entrance where it's placed. In a worst case try climbing through a window.
