So I get the email bit from tenski on “BDL” cigars from Raymond Pages, who, from my 5 min of research, puts out lots of different cigars.
I’m looking at the “BDL” cigar band, and man, if I was Litto Gomez, I’d be pissed.
Might even talk to my lawyer.

Did a 5 min search too and yah, lotta different cigars but very few on my “I-oughta-buy” list. Makes me think “Volume” over “Quality” but I could be wrong. However, with that being said, might be interesting to try Pages’ cigars before the copyright infringement lawsuit shuts things down.

I thought the same thing when I got the email and saw how much they resembled LFDs. Did research also and found the owner used to work for LFD.

Forget BDL cigars, if you get a chance try a DBL cigar.

He did?
I saw he used to work for AJ, but had no idea he worked for Litto as well.
That makes it even worse.
Think
You sure he worked for Litto?

Damn that is a straight copy of LFD.

Wish I'd seen this before I hit submit on my order I would've taken a shot at the $15 fiver.

Just wondering if the original copyright / trademark registration for LFD had expired and BDL snuck in their design before Litto’s people woke up and put in their renewal application?

Robert - any insight here? Think

I no longer get any emails from tenski. Haven't been able to figure out why. They claim it's my ISP that is blocking them but my ISP says they do not. d'oh! Anybody have any ideas?

I signed up for discord and follow their channel there, they put up different things than the emails. I was getting the emails but they started getting filtered by Gmail as spam even though I've gone and marked them not spam several times. I don't know chit about discord and that's the only thing I use it for.

My bad. I got confused with DBL cigars which is owned by Francisco Almonte who worked for Carlos Fuente and Litto Gomez. Had no idea there was DBL and BDL.

I can't say I know why, but there is a test you could try.

Go and open a new gmail account. Then sign that account up for tenski and see what happens. I have most of these types of sites on a special gmail. I couldn't handle the daily bombings in an email that I use for more substantive communication.

I'm going to assume these are going to need a very long nap before/if they get good. But at $3 it's worth a shot. Maybe a new tuxedo or genesis

BDL Liga 5 Maduro - ROTT overall decent cigar for the price. Find it on medium plus side. Pretty much on point with their review.
*******

Each liga in the BDL series is intentionally designed to hit a different strength and flavor profile. Liga 5 Maduro brings a San Andres Maduro wrapper, Nicaraguan long-filler and binder. It's profoundly rich yet smooth, with a fulsome and complex flavor profile including notes of spice, coffee bean, toast, and earth. Out of the gate it offers a spicy, zesty finish with underlying pepper and sweetness. Gently box-pressed, it's medium to full in strength.

I was in a B&M yesterday, saw one of these from a distance and immediately thought "ohh, La Flor Dominicana." Had to get close to see it wasn't, and even then, if not for this thread, I would have totally thought it was an LFD product.

Angel No, I didn´t buy one. The place's prices just weren't good on anything. Less than not good. I just couldn't cough up the cash. Not talking

And, to be honest, I felt a little put off. You know, it's not an LFD. They are, in my opinion, trading on someone else's good will. It might be a fine cigar, but it should make its own way.

I probably will try one at some point, though ...

I bought a pack of each. I suspect they will need rest, figuring they're probly similar to AJF - solid but young.

I'll be posting up my thoughts once I get around to trying them.

$7.50/ea??
Think I’d have to pass, unless one of you guys says otherwise…

Lots of cigars I KNOW are good at that price point, that I’d buy first.
I think I’m kinda done searching for and trying new stuff.
Have 20 or so blends and vitolas that I like and buy regularly, which provides enough variety for me.

It’s called getting old….

Edit
Think I misread that Dan?
It’s for 12 cigars, no?

so...$2.50 each??? really??? only if you like all three...

worth it if you kinda like 2 of the blends, making them $3.75 ea...

but if you only like one, they're equivalent to $7.50 cigars cuz the other 12 are POS...

if you don't like any of 'em, they've wasted $45 of your hard earned cash

how bad can they be, tho? what is the last cigar that you tossed cuz it was crap? 5 Vegas Gold, Bahia Blue, Graycliff Professionale, Garcia y Vega...

Eh……..the pricing smacks of “gard gar” to me.
Guess I’m morphing into a mid range elitist.

Then again, maybe one of them IS a diamond in the rough.
Guess I’m just not into searching anymore.
I have my 20 or so favorites, and that is plenty enough variety for me.
Come to think of it, it has been that way for a couple years already…

I've been skeptical of <$5 cigars for a few years...almost every time I've dipped into that segment, I've come away disappointed...the only real exceptions, off the top of my head, were the Gilberto Oliva Reserva (they may sell for more now) and the Man O'War Puro Authentico

I dont like to explore the cheap stuff as much as I used to but they've gotten a big of buzz and good feedback on reddit and showed up here. May be all in the lookalike branding, may be decent.

From what I've gathered a lot of comparison is being made to AJF. I'm not a huge fan of AJ but everything I've had from him has been made well and some are good.

Also Ram says they're decent ram27bat

My father in law will smoke anything and everything. Any cheap stuff I gamble on and lose goes to him and he's happy as can be.

Just googled BDL cigars and the 1st entry that came up was DBL CIGARS – Dominican Big Leaguer Cigars

Another knockoff ?

another cigar industry veteran dude...Francisco Almonte...35 years in the industry...not sure if he was an executive or swept the floors at Fuente and LFD in the Dominican...the DBL logo is similar to, but not a blatant knockoff of the LFD brand...

Decided to try one early. Only been in my humidor a week or 2. Starting with the Connie as that's not something I typically buy. I've not eaten anything yet and just woke up an hour ago so my taste sense should be as good as its getting. It's also the first cigar in 8 days. So it should be the best way to taste a Connie.

I'll review like I do in blind review box pass. Post and edit to add things as I go.

Cold draw moderately open, pretty green/grassy flavor. Somewhat concerned it may not be ready to smoke.

First light very light flavors and smoke body. Very light. Smells pleasant. Slight peanut shell flavor but very light. Zero bite on retrohale.

Inch in even holding the cigar with my teeth as I'm using 2 hands to sharpen a knife on my stone set, there is almost no smoke coming off the foot to get in my nose or eyes. The little bit that does, doesn't sting or burn. This is an extremely mild cigar. But to be fair I've been smoking full body fill power cigars for a long time. Flavor is pleasant, absolutely zero off-putting flavors or smells. Still pretty much just a light nutty creamy flavor like peanut shells and milk. Slightly sweet, no bitterness. Ever so slight spice bite coming up on retrohale. Burn is sharp and the ash solid at an inch. Didn't fall with a light tap.

Halfway there was 10 minutes of more spicy nutty flavor but I'm starting to get a slight bitter lingering grassy taste on the back of my tongue. The aroma is starting to be less pleasant. Smoke output increased as the tar buildup in the back half starts to burn. I suspect this needed more time to acclimate and is still wet from the store.

I tossed it a little past Halfway. The lingering taste in my mouth is slightly astringent cedar or like the red paper inner shell of a peanut. No nicotine buzz.

My impression of the connie - it's a $3 yard gar. I may or may not try another after a few weeks, but I think these are going to my father in law who loves when i give him "fancy cigars" and keeps em in the fridge.

I would not buy the Connie. But I also do not typically buy or smoke connies. This has been a familiar experience for me with light cigars. I would say it is priced accordingly.

It likely is overhumidified and may be better after a few weeks. If it had no band I would've pinned it as one of General's brands, just wet from the retailer storage. But because it's not something I typically smoke, I don't think I will revisit this one.

I am looking forward to the habano and maduro but I will give them more time to rest.

Ive certainly paid more for less
