Slept better today. Only woke up 3x that I remember. Deep asleep mid dreams when the alarm goes off is such a disorienting way to start the day.

Not sure if your daily schedule changes radically like swing shift but there are things you can do to help you get a better night's sleep. For me the key was to cut out eating late especially sugar, and keep the room cool like in the 60s and dark. You might want to try an Oura ring. It does a bunch of stuff but really helped me understand how to get better sleep.

Over did it today. Three inches of snow shoveled, walked three miles in the snow. Bought an upgrade of winter work gloves, ice melt, then a supreme meatball sub. Watching the NFL. Not the usual pop of a Steelers Ravens game.

Try one of these.

Bought one these this summer but haven't used it yet so I have no review for input. Says it can handle 6" of snow and the battery lasts about 2 hrs between charges depending on how much snow and how heavy it is that it needs to throw. Amazon user ratings are 4 out of 5 stars (3,000+ reviews).

I wouldn't use it to do the snowbanks that the plow trucks leave behind. However but it looks like it works just fine for sidewalks, patio, decks, path for the oil heating guy to get to the fill tube, smaller snow accumulation and stuff.

Ask me tomorrow. It will either work for simple stuff like I mentioned (heavy stuff will be done with a regular snow blower) or it will be tossed out in the road in frustration.

So far we just have a dusting. Maybe the weather folks were faking it and doing a trial run for snow predictions.

Procrastinating on clearing the snow. It's still moderately snowing. The weather folks say we have about 9 inches on the ground around here and we might get another 4-6 inches by the end of the day. The good thing is that it's light and fluffy powder snow.

50 degree, breezy dog walk. Turkey vultures chowing down on a large, dead opossum... they didn't see the dead squirrel about 1/4 mile down the road from it. Or it just doesn't have enough meat on it to leave that big ol' opossum.

Poor opossum. Maybe it was playing opossum and the vultures called it's bluff.

Opossums are rather beneficial animals for humans and the like.

"The many beneficial qualities of opossums include:

- Keeping neighborhoods clear of pests like cockroaches, rats, and mice.
- Reducing the Lyme-disease carrying tick population, by eating nearly 95% of ticks that cross their path.
- Controlling venomous species of snakes, which is possible because of their resistance to venom.
- Having an extremely low risk of contracting rabies!
- Keeping gardens blooming by eating snails, slugs, and fallen, overripe fruit.

Opossums are usually shy and harmless animals, with two main defense mechanisms. First, if an opossum is frightened and unable to flee, she may display her teeth and hiss. Although this behavior might appear fierce, it is usually just a warning. Second, if they feel they are in real danger, they might “play possum” and have the appearance of being dead. When the opossum feels that he is no longer in danger, he will revive himself and move on."

They are not my type so that's more for you. Not talking

Toss some chicken in the crock pot, do some snow clearing, watch some football and take a nap. I have some high goals to achieve today. (They don't include an opossum).

Is it "O pussum" of just "possum" with a silent O? I say it with a silent O.

This opossum got hit by a car, I think. It was in da road, but the birds dragged it off to the side. First time I saw a turkey vulture I thought it was just a damn huge crow... but then I got closer and realized it was NOT a crow.

Wife is making chicken adobo. Smells good.

Round 1 of clearing the snow and I think I'm done. Sure enough, the big blower grabbed a chunk of a limb that fell off a tree and hid itself under the snow. Gotta replace a shear pin but that's not happening tonight.

I'll give the kid an A for snow clearing considering the blower broke a shear pin and it lost 50% of its throwing ability and doing the manual shoveling where needed.

The electric snow shovel/bower thing worked well. It bogged down a bit on the heavier stuff but I'll give it an A-. It works nice for for clearing fluffy snow and even moderate wet snow about 6" deep but lacks the ability beyond that. But then again, that's not what it's made for.

Neighbor's kid is out making a few bucks so I applaud him for his work ethic. It looks like he bought a new snowblower and he'll prolly make some coin today as a result of his efforts.

Similar situation but the opossum obviously didn’t look right, he didn’t look left.

Opossum really do play opossum. The dog will find them once in a while and runs up to it and it plays opossum and she leaves it alone. Freaky how dead still they lie with their scary teeth bared.

Snow blowing complete for this storm. Smoking a Tabernacle to celebrate.

My wife uses that stuff. It's not for me.

I do like a high quality cbd oil for sleep but one is I quickly become dependant on sleep aides. The other is piss tests. Mostly they're scheduled, Mines Jan 20. But if the narcotic counts are off, everyone on that shift and the one before go piss in cups. I've had to do it once, but it's enough a threat I'm not willing to take the risk. Several people have been fired for pissing hot and insist they're only using cbd products. And it's not just fired, it's reported to the state boards and an immediate license suspension for 90 days and need to appear before the board, complete drug counseling, and then can get a probationary license where you're restricted from accessing controlled meds so basically just a desk/office job.

I think I am going to apply for dayshift job. Downside is I'll be working 5-6 days a week again but they're only 8-10 hour days mostly. Plus call which I hate but I think a lot of my hatred came from being forced to stay sober 24 hours a day. Now that I've gone a year being sober 24 hours a day I maybe can deal with it.

Mornin folks. Friggin' freezing out there this morning. Doesn't happen very often but phone says 30 going to only 53 today. I think this is the first freeze in the last 5 years. Covered many of the plants last night and it's going to be a frosty morning walk.

Still, that is better than shoveling.

Nope. 6-12 months until my heart gets used to the stent. Then I can go off them. Probably going to get back in the gym starting next week. Doc said "no restrictions", but I haven't done anything more than the morning 1 hour dog walk yet.

My Buddy who went in with widow maker 98% yrs back did the diet and followed the Dr. plan afterwards for about a year and a half.. after 2 yrs he said F'It and eats greasy cheeseburgers and anything he wants and not on thinners no longer either, but have a family member and another friend who will be on thinners they were told for the rest of their lives, one is Diabetic too and between that and the thinners he still has issues with body temp and dizziness that comes and goes...

The first time I got scoped I was awake, they gove me a pill or two. They had a screen right in front of my face, it was playing the news, BUT, once they began, the screen switched to what the Doc was viewing, FFS! That was one view I would never want to see, ever. Brick wall
