I used to be down there ALL THE FREAKING TIME BACK IN THE LATE 70'S AND 80'S...
GEORGETOWN HAD AWESOME RESTAURANTS, MANY GREAT french restaurants...then of course
The OCCIDENTAL GRILL next to the Williard Intercontinental hotel ...both attached to the secret X-17 white house escape tunnel..

Heard someplace that DC is also losing one, maybe two professional sports teams to Northern Virginia.

That is a good chunk of revenue on its was out the door.

Liked the Baltimore Bullets. Elvin Hayes & Wes Unsell?

They took the bullets away from the b ball team and gave them to the citizenry.
Now who’s running from bullets?
And now, the Wizards will … disappear!

Unseld also played with Gus Johnson and The Pearl during his Baltimore/Capitols/Washington career.

This comes as no surprise. Lived in Fredericksburg, VA in the late 90’s early 00’s. Worked in DC and northern, VA. At the time DC’s mayor was a crackhead. Except for the area surrounding the K street corridor, Georgetown, embassy row, the capital and the White House the place was a 3rd world chit hole. IIRC it was the murder capitol of world at that time.

Watching Unseld whip his patented outlet chest pass after a defensive rebound, was a thing of beauty.
The ball came out like a rocket, on a line, 50-60ft.
One of my favorite players of all time.

Building a new arena in between Arlington and Alexandria due to the crime in the immediate area outside the arena. Ironic police HQ is just a few blocks away yet they don’t provide much of a police presence around the arena and the metro.
