Aug 14 (Reuters) -

Former U.S. President Donald Trump was hit with a sweeping fourth set of criminal charges on Monday when a Georgia grand jury issued an indictment accusing him of efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden.

The charges, brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, add to the legal woes facing Trump, the front-runner in the race for the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election.

The sprawling 98-page indictment listed 19 defendants and 41 criminal counts in all. All of the defendants were charged with racketeering, which is used to target members of organized crime groups and carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

Among the other defendants were Mark Meadows, Trump's former White House chief of staff, and lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman.

"Trump and the other defendants charged in this indictment refused to accept that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump," the indictment said.

Lawyers for those named either declined to comment or did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The case stems from a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call in which Trump urged Georgia's top election official, Brad Raffensperger, to "find" enough votes to reverse his narrow loss in the state. Raffensperger declined to do so.

Trump's supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol four days later in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent lawmakers from certifying Biden's victory.

The indictment cites a number of crimes that Trump or his associates allegedly committed, including falsely testifying to lawmakers that election fraud had occurred and urging state officials to violate their oaths of office by altering the election results.

Prosecutors also cited the breach of a voting system in a rural Georgia county and the harassment of an election worker who became the focus of conspiracy theories.

It also mentions an alleged scheme to subvert the U.S. electoral process by submitting false slates of electors, people who make up the Electoral College that elects the president and vice president.

The indictment reaches across state lines, saying that Trump advisers, including Giuliani and Meadows, advanced the conspiracy by calling officials in Arizona, Pennsylvania and elsewhere seeking to change the outcome in those states.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing, and accuses Willis, an elected Democrat, of being politically motivated.

Trump has already pleaded not guilty in three criminal cases.

He faces a New York state trial beginning on March 25, 2024, involving a hush money payment to a porn star, and a Florida trial beginning on May 20 in a federal classified documents case. In both cases Trump pleaded not guilty.

A third indictment, in Washington federal court, accuses him of illegally seeking to overturn his 2020 election defeat. Trump denies wrongdoing in this case as well, and a trial date has yet to be set.

Georgia, once reliably Republican, has emerged as one of a handful of politically competitive states that can determine the outcome of presidential elections.

Trump persists in falsely claiming he won the November 2020 election although dozens of court cases and state probes have found no evidence to support his claim.

Another day...another indictment. Bored

This time this Jacobin DA Fani Willis has announced one with a whole 19 defendants.
The charges were based on that novel idea, that raising serious questions about the results of an election by right-wingers equals a duhmacracy insurrection crime, a conspiracy to overthrow a duly elected leftist government, and likely Thought Crimes too.

Get the guillotine erected and make a short work of them miscreants, make those heads roll. 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

"Democracy is grounded upon so childish a complex of fallacies that they must be protected by a rigid system of taboos, else even halfwits would argue it to pieces. Its first concern must be to penalize the free play of ideas." H. L. Mencken

I haven't donated anything to a political campaign in a long time and don't plan on it anytime soon.
It would take a really spectacular candidate with a real message and real goals to entice me, not just one full of hot air.
Sadly, the spineless R party as a whole has done a piss poor job of protecting our liberties and property from the evil ones.

Naturally the tyrannical Jacobin lefties are coming after people like me and if you were smaat you'd realize they are coming for their enablers like you too. All they really care about is achieving absolute power and pillage.

You do realize that Alan Dershowitz was on the Gore team when they challenged the election results that caused Gore to lose the Presidential election? He has stated on the record that Trump used the exact same tactics in Georgia that Gore had used and that there is absolutely nothing illegal about what Trump’s team did.

I saw this about Lizard Lady Fani in the Washington Examiner:

"Before Trump, her highest-profile case was against a group of Atlanta public school educators who allegedly cheated on standardized tests in an effort to protect their jobs and receive bonuses from administrators. The trial, which lasted eight months, still holds the record for the longest criminal trial in Georgia history. Willis was criticized and labeled a "sellout" for going after teachers from a struggling school district, but she stood firm."

So, she was accused of betraying the Jacobin education monopoly, becoming an Uncle Tom for personal advancement,
Maybe she thinks she can regain acceptance and fame in the leftist hierarchy with her Trump witch hunt.

Let's just get this said; You believe that all 19 people indicted across these 41 criminal counts are innocent - and victims of prosecutorial misconduct?

And the Grand Jury members - part of the conspiracy?

Or should Trump just not be charged because it's him?

Yes. Misconduct and election interference.

Now if they indicted 23 people with 47 charges that would pass the threshold for automatic conviction.

The funny thing with this one is the clerk put the indictment on line yesterday morning while the grand jury was still meeting. The DA calls it a fictitious document and then the indictment comes in and is an exact match!

Sounds like a solid process.

Articles of impeachment have been filed against Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. for High Crimes and Misdemeanors. He needs impeaching.

I heard somewhere that "impeachment is forever"

I’m old enough to remember when the left used to talk about real equality, and the discomfort of bad people getting a fair shake being a hallmark of our democracy.

Now they’re the tip of the “by any means necessary” spear.

Or maybe I should change that to a lynching rope. You know if the shoe fits n all.

For one. Joey B. alluded to that.
I'm not sure what "legitimate efforts of the Constitution" means though. Confused
Constitutions don't make "legitimate efforts", but Joey B. had made illegitimate efforts to skirt the Constitution.
That's what Jacobins do. He needs impeaching!

I've liked marmalade too ever since I was a little boy.

Fani Willis's father, John Clifford Floyd, was a criminal defense attorney and a member of the Black Panthers (Marxist-Leninist). The apple didn't fall far from the tree, Fani's strategy strongly resembles Commie-Pinko persecution tactics. ☭

I've always despised Commie-Pinkos ever since I was a little boy.

Dershowitz: We’re Up to Four Bananas to the Banana Republic After Trump’s Georgia Indictment

During an appearance on Fox News, Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz suggested the country was getting much closer to “banana republic” status following former President Donald Trump’s indictment in Fulton County, GA.

Dershowitz said the country had moved from two bananas to “three, maybe four” after the Georgia indictment.

“[T]he idea is we are all part of the United States, and we have one rule for Democrats, one rule for Republicans, one rule for Martha’s Vineyard, one rule for Nantucket, one rule for Georgia,” he said. “And you cannot start making crimes out of things that the Democrats did. Tilden-Hayes, John Kennedy election, 2000 election, 2016 election, Jamie Raskin gets up and does some of the same things — these are political actions that the Constitution prefers us to take rather than going out on the streets and rioting.”

“We are supposed to go to court,” Dershowitz added. “We are supposed to go to Congress. You can’t make those things crimes. You can’t expand the RICO statute to now include political objections. You know, on my podcast, I get bananas every day. I was up to two bananas to the banana republic. I’m now up to three, maybe four, after this indictment.”

https://www.breitbart.com/clips/2023/08/16/dershowitz-were-up-to-four-bananas-to-the-banana-republic-after-trumps-georgia-indictment/

Professor Dershowitz is a Constitutional Law expert and used to teach at Harvard...People need to really look at the charges because if they keep going down this road...they're not going to like where this ends. At all.

Lefty has to keep the plates spinning on Trump, Russia Collusion and a war in Ukraine!

Please, do tell. I recall an America where everyone thrived despite the #RESIST crowd that just had to have 2 unsuccessful impeachment trials. I remember gas being under 3 dollars a gallon. You mean gas was under $3 a gallon, while, "essential workers" were the only mother stickers working, and risking our lives makining sure you could Fricken eat, while the uppers were working from home, and bitching if we were fricken late. Yaeh gas was really cheap, when over half the country was at home, social distancing, while some of us were working 70 + hours a week, so youse guys had some TP for your bunghole.
There was almost a year, when I didn't have DOT bitching that I never hooked up an electronic logging device, on my truck, and dogeing meth monsters, because they were not drug testing, because they didn't give a Rat Sass, because the people, who mattered, were snuggled away, at home, while their plebes slaved away making them wealthy.
