WSJ

What happens next?
The indictment will kick off a process in which Mr. Trump will likely travel to Manhattan to face the charges. An indictment and an arrest warrant are typically filed under seal with the court before becoming public. Prosecutors will now likely negotiate with Mr. Trump’s lawyers a time and date for his surrender. The indictment will remain sealed until after Mr. Trump was formally arrested and booked.

“We won’t see a copy of that indictment or know definitively what the charges are until he is arraigned by a judge,” said Karen Agnifilo, a former prosecutor in the Manhattan district attorney’s office.[/i]

I am personally waiting to see what the exact charges even are except for the judge, DA and Trump and his lawyers.

Comedian Chris Rock gazed out at the audience at an awards ceremony in Washington earlier this month. “Are you guys really going to arrest Trump?” he asked bluntly. “This is only going to make him more popular!”

Just another step getting us to the point where we will have to decide on whether we prefer Socialism or Fascism. The two current big box political religions aren't helping the situation.

Sure. Indict Trump. Walk him through the process, find him guilty or not guilty. Then wait. Wait for the Republicans to (eventually) get the power of the white house, house and senate and pull Hillary Clinton for Bengazi, Biden for the Ukraine thing, Obama for Fast and Furious, Bush for starting an unwarranted war in Iraq.

Maybe we amend the constitution to send all of our president's to jail for 2 years after they leave office. Save us a bunch of time and money in investigations and grand standing speeches on C-Span.

Can't transition our government into a banana republic until all the red and blue monkeys can screech, throw fecal matter at each other and act like raging silverbacks.

In Florida state courts, you can skip Arraignment on a misdemeanor by solely having your lawyer file papers pleading not guilty- unless there is a bond issue.

I don't see Trump NOT being released on his own reconnaissance if he shows up.

Most difficult thing for him over the next few days will be keeping his mouth shut if there is a Temporary Gag Order...

This angers the rural proles bigly.

It's such a strange world we live in...

The people who support Trump are largely anti mrna vax, yet he was the one that ok'd and pushed the vax, along with the govt tyranny, when he was CEO of the United States Corporation. They love him though.

On the flip side of the coin is the Branch Covidians. They can't get boosted enough, but they hate Trump. Trump hooked yall up with the tyranny that you need, why put him in prison now?

I dont want to church this up anymore than I have to, so I'll just say 98.2 percent of you guys are fooking idiots.

Hope you all have a handmade premium spring--get out and enjoy the nice weather.

We should build a summery, or anthology of all the shameless witch hunts perpetrated on poor Donald.

I think the first time was when he was 18 years of age, a politically motivated police officer weaponized the law against all Americans by writing Donald a parking ticket.

I heard he still hasn’t paid that ticket….

Bill Barr Rips Trump Indictment, Calls It A “Disgrace” And “Abuse” Of Legal System

https://trendingpoliticsnews.com/bill-barr-trump-indictment-disgrace-paub/?utm_source=papa&utm_medium=twitter

Quote:
Bill Barr, the former United States attorney general, slammed Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg for leading the indictment of former President Donald Trump. On Thursday, the Manhattan grand jury voted to indict the former president.

Trump is reported to be facing 34 different counts related to business fraud.

On Friday, speaking with the former assistant US attorney of the Southern District of New York, Andrew McCarthy, Barr described the charges as a “political hit job.”

“It’s the archetypal abuse of the prosecutorial function to engage in a political hit job, and it’s a disgrace.”

“And legally, I think … from what I understand, it’s a pathetically weak case,” the former US attorney general added.

The case is “the epitome of the abuse of prosecutorial power to bring a case that would not be brought against anyone else. They are going after the man, not a crime. And the legal theory, frankly, is pathetically weak,” Barr contested.

It is reported the former president will appear in court on Tuesday, April 4th, at 2:15 PM EST. Trump refused a virtual appearance, the Guardian reported.

“Trump’s increasing insistence that he wants to be handcuffed behind his back for a perp walk appears to come from various motivations, including that he wants to project defiance in the face of what he sees as an unfair prosecution and that it would galvanize his base for his 2024 presidential campaign.”

Interesting that the MAGA crowd as condemned these charges - even though they are unknown charges.

All we have is a rumor of 34 counts of fraud (hfs - 34 counts??), but the tacked is that any accusations is an “abuse of power”. So for MAGA, there seems to be no standard of justice where Trump is concerned.

Give him his day in court just like the rest of us. What’s the bfd?

Don't know if Nixon or Agnew every had any relationship with a porn star or ever bragged about grabbing women by the puzsszy .

Then again, grabbing women by the puzsszy does play well to his base. Getting arrested for paying puzsszy to shut up is more (pardon the upcoming pun) the kind of red meat his base craves.

All he needs is a rape charge and he ill ensure he becomes Emperor of America with 45% of the popular vote.

Here is this "liberal's" opinion:

If Trump is guilty, charge him and convict him like everyone else.

If Biden(s) is/are guilty, charge them and convict them like everybody else.

Presuming for the sake of argument both are convicted, both Presidents jail potential should be given deference to the nature of the crime(s) convicted of; their propensity to reoffend, etc., etc., just like everyone else- with due consideration of the fact they are/were President.

If Hunter is guilty, throw him in jail. But, I doubt that will happen soon and his father will probably commute his sentence or pardon him at the endo of his presidency.

The bell will toll on all of them.

There is nothing to rejoice about here. whip

Forget about Stormy until the charges are opened. She did not even testify.

My guess is that this will be heavily weighted towards repeated bank, business and tax fraud." Stormy charges would really be predominantly "throw away charges."

Two or three years back, I C&P'd a long article disusing the documents supporting allegations about Trump- solely based on bank records and taxes filed and released.

I'll look for it. Long read, but it is all based on the documents described in the article the NYT acquired and claimed to poses.

Not what I said........we have a sitting president who acted as a foreign agent ,tons of evidence to support this allegation and nothing is happening vs a former president who paid a porn star to keep her mouth shut about a sexual encounter.Plus rumor has it that according to what your definition of "IS" is this wasn't even sex.

The Bidens may be as guilty and nefarious as can be.
Trump may be as innocent as an alter boy.

They both deserve due process, and while we have seen that impeachment at the federal level is more political than anything else, our subject here is about state charges. I hope this is and will be about the laws of the State of New York. And justice should be blind - whomever stands accused.

Yes, the “truth” matters to me. But we are talking about the law - which in an entirely different book.
