Jonesy, usually I think you’re on something, but this time I believe you are on to something. While many go down there for cheap surgery, I wouldn’t doubt a side trip for some nefarious activity took their trip off course quickly. Mistaken identity? Kidnapping? There’s certainly more to this story and we’ll get some, but not all of the details. And just another reason why I’m in no hurry to get to Mexico on a personal trip anytime soon.

PS: Curious how they expected to get across the border each way without issues given their criminal histories.

I had the "pleasure" to go to Matamoros for business. It was the only place where GM gave us fully armored vehicles and armed escorts that went EVERYWHERE we went when we were there. That was back in the early 90s. It's not a nice place to begin with. On the way back we got to see a couple of heads on sign posts. The local police weren't taking the bribes anymore and well things escalated.

When I saw this headline I bristled when I saw the town in the headlines. Jonsey, once again hitting a home run.

So, is now a good time to say finish the wall????

You have to be like an idiot to go to Mexico, other than a highly visited tourist area like Cancun, for example. Then, you still need to be much more careful than many other foreign countries. Besides, you never have the money and the drugs (presuming that is what this really is) in the same place as the cash because the dealer has more incentive to kill you and keep both. That is common sense. People are stupid.
