Silicone glass caulk takes 48 hours to dry.
Thought it would only be 12-24 hours.

You are going to stink if you can't shower for 48 hours...

using cruise control on an interstate highway in moderate traffic is risky, especially when a tractor trailer suddenly changes into your lane...

Unless you have a newer car with radar cruise control. It's a wonderful thing. That and automatic high beams.

Wife has a 2020 RAV4 that has that. It is pretty cool... my 2020 RAM 1500 does not have it.

I hate most nanny's on newer cars but that one works well. Only problem is on the highway you may set cruise at say 80 and come up on a slower car and not realize you are now going whatever speed he is going. Happened to me often on a rental in Alaska until I got used to it.

Just drove a vehicle with Adaptive Cruise Control this week. Think that is the same as you are speaking of. Personally, I don’t like it. If I set the cruise at 72, I want it to go 72. And I’ll decide how much space between me and the vehicle ahead of me. I’m not some young douchebag watching TicTok and sending selfies to people on “the gram” when I’m driving.

All it leads to for me is I have to turn it off and on again unnecessarily, which will lead to it wearing out and replacing.

Much more succinct than my babble. Thanks, Ded.

The one nanny feature I do like is on some Honda models have active blind spot cameras. As soon as you flip the directional on, it activates the camera in that bling spot. Big winner.

Cruise control has saved me from a bunch of tickets. Set it for 7 over and aim the car, listen to the radio, and sing along with Bananaram……. Just sing along.

Learned more about the iconic (at least in Wisconsin) Green Bay Packers flag recently.

The flag has a medium green background, a large white G in the middle, with yellow (it isn’t gold) piping around it.

The Packers of course have a trademark on it. Nobody can get one of these flags!

Well….. you actually can! The Packers will allow the printing of a flag and let you have it…… in exchange for a $25,000 donation to the Green Bay Packers. Not a charity- to the Packers.

That is why they aren’t America’s Team.

Can't stand that adaptive cruise control thing. The wife's minivan has it and I turn it off every time I drive her car for road trips.

Also, that stupid lane-keeper notification yells at me if I change lanes withouth signaling even if there are no other cars for miles... It wakes me up EVERY time I am driving... So annoying.

Oh, you're that driver that doesn't hold a steady speed. Brick wall

I love cruise control and the GM Adaptive cruise control is fantastic. Times 100 if you have to follow another driver. It can inadvertently apply the brakes if it "sees" a vehicle slowing to make a turn from an adjacent lane on a curving road.

Cruise control helps me stay at or over the limit as I am willing to chance. Whistle

The RAV we have has 3 settings for that. Far away, closer, and you better have your foot on the brake.

Or...

1 Thanks for maintaining a good speed

2 Hey, you're a little slow

3 GTFO!

The Silverado is also adjustable, but incremented in seconds... before impact, assuming the driver isn't paying attention.

We have a 2019 Rav 4. Has the adaptive cruise control with 3 distance settings. I have done what another has said several times and not realized the car in front of me was slowing my pace. One gripe I have is when u switch lanes and the radar sees its clear, it accelerates too quickly. Bad for gas mileage, wear and tear, and slightly dangerous. One thing I like is it will come to a complete stop without u touching the brake if radar cruise is on and there happens to be a red light. When the light turns green and u want to go and resume cruise you just tap the gas pedal once. Auto headlights and blind spot monitor are nice but lane assist is not. I don't like the feeling of the car moving the steering wheel. FYI to the owner of the 2020 RAV4 if it's an XLE or above and has BSM the BSM works with lane assist. If u have them both on you'll get the light on the side mirror when someone is in you're blind spot, if u put signal on that way it will beep and flash, and if u try to switch lanes the car won't let u.
Another cool new feature is the front window camera that takes a pic of every speed limit sign it sees and displays it on the dashboard so youre never wondering what the limit is or having to wait for the next sign.

Question for all adaptive cruise control vehicle drivers, do your brake lights come on when the adaptive cruise control slows down the vehicle?

Mostly it's just reducing speed by decreasing fuel like lifting your foot off the gas a bit so in that case no, but if you use it to a complete stop and the car applies the brakes then yes. When the car takes control of the steering or braking the steering wheel and brake pedal actually move as if someone is moving them so everything happens the same.

My wife loves hers. I hate SUVs as much as minivans. I don't understand how anyone above 6' can drive a new RAV because I'm 6' and my head is constantly hitting the ceiling.
Edit: Also noticed u referred to the closest setting as "u better have foot on brake". The radar cruise on the RAV will apply the brakes and won't allow u to hit the car in front of you regardless of how hard they hit the brakes and even if they come to a complete stop. RAV will completely stop without ever touching brakes and hold u stopped until u tap gas pedal which will resume your previous cruise setting. Just be aware if the car in front of u jumps on the brakes the RAVs system will apply equally hard braking which may startle u. Toyota dealer told us its not great at recognizing deer and other wildlife but it recognizes pedestrians and bicycles.

Best new feature and the one I miss the most because our old Ford Escape had it and RAV doesn't is that button that would return the seat and mirrors to your specific settings and the wife had a button for her settings.

That is a great feature, I'm 6'1" and my wife is 5'2" My older Silverado had two different key fobs that were matched to the driver. Our current Silverado and Traverse have selection buttons for driver 1 and 2.

Hated that feature and turned it off. Iffn you set it at say 4 car links as soon as the car in front slows you feel the brakes come on. A driver would not automatically hit the brakes but would most likely just take his foot off the go pedal and coast for a second until he was at the proper distance again.

Wife's car was paid for with a cashier's check. Doesn't make sense to pay off my truck. The entire 5 year loan is only costing me $1,800 in interest over the entire 5 years.

Both of us have 2020 vehicles. Hers has maybe 13k miles mine has 43k miles. But I drove it to NY and back, CA and back, down to Baja, MX and back... so most of it is at highway speeds.

That I can no longer trust General Motors Trucks.
I have always driven Cheverolet Trucks. Except for a few Datsuns, and Nissans, they have been my go to truck brand.
I just recently sold my 2006 Silverado to my trucking company, so I could give it to my best driver, as transportation to and from work. My personal driver is a 1968 C10, with a 327 V8. My Company truck, is a 2018 Z71 Piece of crap. At 78K the ABS module went out, costing roughly $1800, and at 85K the transmission shelled, costing my company another $6500. I started reading up, and find that both these problems are well known by GM. So I have learned my lesson the hard way. From now on, I am strictly buying late 1980s through early 2000s for my company trucks. I can rebuild the entire drive trains, and be dollars ahead, than putting drivers in newer pieces of ****.

I'm on my second RAM 1500. The 2018 was the ecodiesel... 2 EGR issues inside 25k miles and was told no permanent fix in place. Sold it to Carmax.

Got my current with the Hemi. So far so good. *fingers crossed*

Yeah, those Hemi motors run good. I have just decided to rebuild older trucks, for company trucks. Less bells and whistles, translates to less to go wrong. If it has good drive train, blows hot and cold air, and has a good stereo, that is all I care about.

I had a Chevy Silverado 1500 I bought new in the early 2000's. 2006? I swear that thing was built on a Monday the day after the Superbowl by a bunch of hungover workers because I had nothing but problems with it.

It had a handful of recalls and some known problems that didn't make them problem enough to classify as a recall (they called it a service advisory or something like that). Engine issues, brake issues, power steering issues, clutch issues tranny issues (had to get the tranny rebuilt around 60k). Other than the recalls, those fixes were all out of pocket. I never drove it hard or had anything that I towed or used it for plowing. 30 min daily commute to work and back, run around town errands, trips to Home Depot for home fix up supplies, camping trips, ski trips. Try driving the Kancamagus Highway in the NH White Mountains coming home from a ski trip with no power steering - that's some white knuckling scary bad fun.

All of the problems happened after the warranty expired but under 100k miles.

I was so pissed at the thing. I finally got rid of it around 80k miles, I think, for a trade in. I took a kick in the shorts on that too because it wouldn't shift into 4WD which was the last straw. I determined that I had three choices: give it a ghost ride off a cliff, have a party and sell tickets for $10 per swing of a sledge hammer to beat the thing to a pulp or trade it in and get something for it.

I made an oath that I will NEVER buy any Chevy or GMC vehicle again. To this date I have upheld that oath and I don't plan on breaking that oath.

I digress, this is not knowledge recently acquired. I classify it as experience - something acquired AFTER you needed it.

From 1945 to 1980 the U.S. recorded 30 broken arrows which is a missing nuclear bomb. Thats almost once per yr. average. After 1980, records were no longer made public.
Also several fruits and vegetables are man made and do not exist naturally like corn, broccoli, tomatoes, oranges, etc.

Having genuine knock off wheels on my corvette has caused some confusion. It appears that the spinner marked "left" goes on the right side (passenger side) and the spinner marked "right" goes on the left (drivers side).
