Had a couple Malbec cab blends lately. Don’t recall the names. Neither were worth mentioning. Just good

Harvest ridge Malbec 2020 Delaware
Harvest ridge red blend Delaware. Bought bottles of both. Stopped in there for the Malbec.
Sampled another blend that’s finished in bourbon barrels. It was also good

Remole Toscana 2022.

got a two-fer-20 bucks deal...seems about right.
Was good with the Chicken/Broccoli/Ziti from the local pizza shop.
Probably would be better with Chicken Parm...

That’s all that matters. Was it good or bad? I do not need to hear about hints of elderberry.

2021 First Drop Mother's Milk Shiraz

Liked it after decanting for a bit but I just could not tell if the pomegranate was fresh or a few days old. Think

"Wine Spectator-Australia - Barossa - "A compelling red on a juicy, fresh frame, with smooth, polished tannins and fresh pomegranate and maraschino cherry flavors at the core, showing details of milk chocolate, nutmeg and white peppercorn, plus an appealing hint of toasted herbs and fresh earth."

^ @ hockey dad. Yes it was good. Sweeter than some Malbec but still bold. Had it with spaghetti for lunch at my good pals house. We opened the other bottle with a smoked Turkey Roast beef Mac cheese green beans supper. Good time

Butterfly Effect an Australian dry white, not particularly a good pair with the AB Prensado Maduro but it wasn’t off putting

I keep a bottle of that myself. Don't often pair my wines with a cigar but a good tawny always works well.

^DED, I don’t always get a pairing that I like but I often try.

^^JTS likes Malbec, as do I. I find that Malbec is usually a friendly pair with a cigar for my not too refined palate.

Still never found a Malbec that I thought stood out without being part of a meritage. I keep trying but all I have had have caused me to think - would I pay this much for this wine again?

My grandma had one row of grapes specifically for making gewurztraminer.
She loved that stuff. I never got into it.

Deadeye I won’t go over 25$ on Malbec. I just like the bold aspect that some bottles have. The ones blended with cab can be really good. Honestly I’ve never spent too much on wine. I’ve tried some expensive wine and like you mentioned I always think I’d never pay that.

Gewurztraminer is not my thing. Sweet. Reminded me of Riesling I don’t drink white wine much. Only time I touch the stuff is if the crowd I’m around is into it.

Love a good Riesling on a hot summer day but it has to be on the dry side no more than 2.5-3 RS.
