Cute little critter! That is an Armadillo! They are as plentiful in Texas as Mockingbirds!

We had one wonder into our yard when I was a kid in San Angelo. It liked pancakes.
They are devious: they can dig really good, If your dog bothers it it will use those claws on it, they will eat the roots of any new plants or grass, they carry leporsy.

Its an armored RAT.

HEY BMW,

Is it just me or is he missing his tail? All the guys around the Katy area have tails when you see them.

While serving my country, my unit was sent to Arkansas to do some babysitting. Among all of the interesting flora and fauna (most everything there is poisonous) we found the armadillos to be quite abundant and just a "little" malodorous when caught. They also tend to panic when tossed into the barracks of those you dislike...

That's his head lower left and his left leg on the right, he's facing the camera.

We don't see as many of them as we used to. I think they killed most of them off with Lone Star Beer! LoL

We used to catch them and race them untill they found out they carry leprocy. Fast little critters.

My dogs charged it and bumped it with their chests and the Armadillo just looked up with a look of " What'd you do that for?"

They do make good sausage on a stick. he,he.

One line of defense the armadillo utilizes is jumping straight up in the air. After freezing in the headlights, your car passes over and they BOOM! end up in your fan belt.
