^ I remember liking that La Rubia lancero

77699 - Privada Scrooge by AJF. AJ's been doing more small batch projects with Privada, and they've mostly been pretty dadgum good. This cigar was excellent. Good burn, draw, flavors, very nice.
77700 - LCA Privada Blue Lonsdale AKA No Puppets Allowed AKA Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie. There's a dumb name for a cigar for ya, Conan.
77701 - Southern Draw Kudzu lonsdale from Jake. The discussion of SD made me want one. Thanks Jake!

These are WAY better than the regular line imo. What was so disappointing for you?

77706 - LCA 1491 c/o Sir LeeBot. That was a very tasty smoke, thanks lee! Interesting story re the cigar, too. Apparently it's a true puro. Dominican Corojo wrapper, binder and filler.

it was the Habano/regular. I've tried several of their offerings, and that is my fave. The Leyenda is also very good. Have not tried the maduros, tho I prolly will once the Ironclad Resolution expires.

77709 -- Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970, at least 10 years old and still had enough pop to wobble my knees, but the flavor was a bit muted...

You're right...they are way better than the regular line...and I posted so a couple years ago when I got them. The first few were very good. The disappointment was that after two years, it didn't match up to my memories of the siblings I smoked back then.

edit: being on a buying hiatus for the past several months and expected to continue til 4/2024 has forced me to dig around my storage boxes and exhume and consume cigars I've forgotten about. A recurring theme is that most aged cigars do not stand up to time. A minority have been as amazing as my memories of them when I last smoked one...and a relative few have actually gotten better with age.

Lesson learned: If you really like a cigar, smoke that stash up soon because they'll prolly lose something down the road.

77710 - Le Careme Pastelitos LE 2023

I keep buying these. They aren't the highest rated but they pair so perfectly with dark rum.
I feel like I'm having dessert each time I light one up.

77720 - Epic Corojo double corona. Really nice. I didn't dig the 54 ring guage so much, but would definitely like to try these in a smaller size.

I sample dark rums with most cigars I smoke in the evening. Right now, I'm sipping Zaya 16 year Gran Reserva. Earlier, I tried Kaniche Perfeccion Rum from Panama with the Crux Epicure maduro.

Edited: Neither was a good fit. However, Zaya is a great match for LADC Mi Amor belicoso and Kaniche is a great pairing with a San Cristobal Revelation.

Edited again: I also like Ron Zacapa 23 year with the Le Careme Pastilitos 2023 LE.

3rd Edit (why not?) - Bourbon is great for pairing full strength cigars as well. I'm a bit of a loyalist when it comes to bourbons. I limit myself to Knob Creek, Maker's Mark and Henry McKenna. Oliva series V in the Melanio maduro, 135th and double robusto beg for those pairings.

#77,723 - La Flor Dominicana Toro

Thanks to the 2016 RMCF Crew (...believe it was DED, DBIII, Cacman, Youngra, Stinger and Dkeage...). The Brothers sent a slew of event-only cigars as well as other great smokes. This on is the last of the LFD event-only 3-pack.

Edited to include Kipp and correct an error.

77727 - CAO Brazilia

I found a handful of these from a few years back in the bottom of one of my tupperdores. Two years later and I am straining to see what I liked so much about these. Maybe they were better fresh.

KDT, put the next sequential number (from the previous post) in front of each cigar you list.

Same here. I ended up giving the ones I had to my brother-in-law.

77730 - EPC Alligence - I was reading a book as I smoked this and the 1st 1/3 seemed harsh and tannic. I realized I was smoking way too quickly and once I slowed down it was very enjoyable.

Musta been the book, DED...opening sections of well written books are usually suspenseful and dramatic, grabbing the reader by the throat and pulling him in...then the story settles into a slow expository section that allows the reader to sit back, take a few deep and slow breaths while putting pieces of the story together...

77731 -- Viaje Honey and Hand Grenades...very nice...forgot who gifted this, but thank you very much...wonder if they'll still be around next year when I can start buying cigars again...
