I'm going to take a sabatical from the boards.

There is so much dissension and, at times, real hostility, it has become an almost noxious experience.

I understand that people have opinions and want to express them, yet, nothing seems to change.

When I first arrived on these boards, I found an eager bunch of BOTL/SOTL willing to help a "New Jack". For that I am grateful.

I would rather "fix the problem, not the blame", so I will withdraw for a time, and when I return, perhaps things will have settled back to the way it was when I came.

I wish all the best to each and every one of you. (And watch out, because I'll still be bidding, so leave my CI Legends Maroon and Perdomo Fresh Rolled alone)

From 2002 to about 2003, the boards were pretty friendly. There wasn't much fighting or bashing going on. Rick was quietly democrat (insisting that Bush stole the election, Gore really won, etc), others were quietly republican and most got along. Not as many political threads.

Why leave over this? Hell, it does get irritating but I would say that this is one of the better places to discuss the issues. Most of the folks on here are fairly educated and you can have a marginally decent argument. There are those who feel more strongly about their positions, but those folks are everywhere. Just gonna stick your head in the sand, smug in the fact that you are right and need no other opinions? Not me..I may not completely agree with jpotts or Rick or WB or Fuzz, but I will listen to them and/or argue with them. The flip side is that, if I'm not in the mood, I can ignore them the same way they can to me.

I don't want cigarman692900 to leave. Quite frankly, all it would do is open up another slot for someone to apply as a new member of the board and just as soon as they get approved they'll be asking about "cello on or off". I want cigarman692900 to stay because at least she's a known commodity. I'm practically begging her to stay.

I have a better idea than leaving. We will talk to Sven R and have him remove the guy holding the gun to your head that forces you to click on all sections not just cigars and related and forces you to click on the political threads. When no longer forced by fear of dead to read this section you can be on the cigars and picture and trade sections and enjoy. That is my win/win option for you.


Seriously though there have been times where I tire of the political bantering. For a while every post by 20 posts in had Thom and Adroomi calling a person some sort of racist it got old. I just stuck to the cigars and related section for a few months. No one forces anyone to opem misc or to read thread where the title indicated clear political thread and after reading first post it is easy to see if it will be political or not.

I just came in here from my phone in the kitchen where I just finished rubbing down some pork chops with blackened seasoning and vac sealed em with half a stick of butter. Dunked em in the sous vide bath to be ready for dinner when I'm gonna make pork chop sammiches.

Grew up eating pork chop sandwiches. 6-7 of us always ate at grandmas when gramps was still alive. We all worked together on the farm. Once a week or so grandma would buy a big pork loin slice it thin. Flash fry and we had them on regular white bread w Mayo. I still eat ‘em once in a while. They’re fantastic.

She used to cook every day. Even salesman would randomly show up at lunch time. Grandma would be sassy knowing he timed his visit to grab a homemade lunch. Secretly she loved it. There was always more than enough.

I’ve had thinly sliced marinated as well as cutlet pork sammiches but when I saw “pork chop”, I envisioned a 1/2” thick boneless piece in between a nice bun. Is that what youse guys are talking about?

Sounds like Jake is saying similar to what you are.

I took thick cut loin chops, cut the bone off, cooked em sous vide at 135, heated cast iron to ripping hot and seared em. Stuck em on buns with onion and mayo.
