Much rather it be fake hate crimes than real ones. What is the punishment for fake hate crimes? Do they just charge for normal crimes? It should be treated as a hate crime.

Less than one third of one percent, compared to actual hate crimes reported by law enforcement authorities...

The media has been reporting that there has been a surge in reported hate crimes since Trump was elected, the implication being that Trump's election has motivated prejudiced people to act out against people they hate. I'm just trying to be fair and balanced by pointing out both numbers, so people can decide for themselves whether or not hate crimes and fake hate crimes are newsworthy. To be honest, there are more serious crime numbers that occur everyday, like white collar crime in the business world and corruption in the political world. But issues of race and religion still generate strong feelings in America, so hate crimes get attention...
