the 20th is a 10 hour... that's feasible... but the big boys hide at the 12 hour spot, which is the sunday trip... will the 21st work equally well for you?

I'm just going to make this frickin' work. I believe my wife will be in the Philippines then, or that's her plan right now. If we solidify the dates, I can present the idea to my boss (cigar smoker as well, we fish together a lot) and he can come, too, if he wants to.

Things have gotten very busy around here, so I apologize for being slow on this...

I'm good for 5/21 for fishing if that suits everyone...

victor, it won't be a cake walk, but I have done it... left burbank around midnight, did a 10 hour fishing trip in morro, back to burbank immediately after, and then in to work for 10 hours after about 3 hours sleep... you will be sore and if you don't shower you'll probably get fired... but the last 3 hours of the trip is just making our way back to shore and there's a nice sitting area inside where you can catch a little nap... you're young, I'm sure you can swing it...

Delta, MACS. Drafter, what say you? anyone else? anyone seen sdbolts fan around?

As for Cambria Pines - Apparently that time of year there is a minimum 2 night stay... and their availability is low and they've raised their rates considerably - either just for that time of year, or for the whole year....

soooo... I'm open to suggestions... that's the only lodging in the area that I have first hand knowledge of... I can do some homework and probably find another place, it will likely just take me a couple of days...

As my schedule is now, I am off the 19th. So I'd just take the 22nd, and maybe 23rd off.

A quick google search shows more than a half dozen hotels close to the landing. Comfort Inn... Best Western... I don't need fancy.

I'm good with 5/21. Ant, let us know where you're flying to, and if it's between Ontario and Santa Barbara, we (MACS and I) can pull over and pick you up on the way. If we arrange for lodging, I'm with MACS - good with no frills. We should plan to stay at least the night before we go fishing, the 20th, and the 21st, after we get back from fishing.

I may be finishing up a project and technically unemployed around then... that's free my schedule up.

Or I'll be in the middle of a nasty deadline.

Just checked the Cambria Pines Lodge website and saw that a large suite with a bedroom with a king bed and living room area with a queen size Murphy and pull-out sofa bed, accommodates six (prolly more with an air mattress I can bring) and goes for $249 per night and is available on 5/21 and 5/22. With our five: Opelman, victor, abrignac, MACS and me, that works out to $50 plus fees/taxes (~$60) per person/ night.

How far is this place from the wharf? I think closer is better... I can sleep more.

I do have a very nice queen size air mattress that has an attached pump to inflate and deflate it, though.

it's probably 20 minutes... whereas the hotels are right there... the downside to the hotels is I have no idea if we can smoke anywhere... the downside to the lodge is one bathrrom/shower for 5 guys finishing up an all day deep sea trip is gonna be rough...

That would be great. I have a ticket reserved. It was the last one left on the flight. I plan to buy it ASAP.

There are only a few cheap seats left. If I don't book soon, ticket prices are going up a few hundred $$$.

They didn't call you already? Perhaps they set me up first since I'm coming from farther out. Maybe we are going to pick you up on the way. Keep your phone handy. Dawn Marie should be calling you shortly.

If I'm not mistaken, there was some chatter amongst the flight attendants in regards to drafter and some "passive aggressive groping"... i don't even know what that means but basically the ladies decided to put him on the platinum no-fly list... they'll still hook the platinum rail car up to the amtrak if he wants but they'll probably make him switch to a greyhound to go over the grapevine... big hassle...

Just checked the Cambria Pines lodge again. They have two large suites available, each with a king bedroom, a queen and a Murphy in the living room. This will easily accommodate our 6 (with Rene) 3 in each, with space for any additional straggler if MACS and I bring our air mattresses. Each suite is $249, per night, about $90-100/night per person with taxes and fees. All of their basic rooms with two beds and a shower are taken. We need to decide soon, if we want to make reservations...

alternative is the Best Western at Morro Bay, closer to the boat landing, but fewer amenities. Rooms with two queen beds are $155/night and we'll need 3 for a group of six, unless we want to cram in an air mattress here and save the money for a third room.

I'm good with Best Western or Cambria Pines.

Opel, if we're not reserving the boat... are we at least reserving our spots?

Yes to reservations! We each need to go to this link:

https://morrobaylanding.fishingreservations.net/sales/usersignin.php?trip_id=494238

Hopefully that works... 30 out of 30 spots are still available so no worries there...

As for hotels, right up the hill from Morro Bay Landing there are a dozen or so motels, all of them pretty much the same... they aren't great but i think we can get rooms for under $80/ night... I'm good no matter what we decide...

That's fine with me too. We should try to get a place with adjoining rooms for logistical ease...
