Feeling a little guilty/ Confession
1. Author: charlie mDate: Thu, 5/16/2024, 3:17PM EST
Last January i won a bid on a box of Macanudoi Inspirado White Churchills because they were cheap. I lit one & within a minute the wrapper came loose, not just a little but the entire wrapper. A week later, tried another & same result, + there was a green grassy flavor that I do not like. The nice lady at Cigarbid gave me credit for the whole box & said to keep them. I put them in a ziplok bag with a Bovida & stuck them away in a desk drawer. I just found them last week & what the heck, lit one up. Wow! the wrapper was fine, the grassy flavor was gone & I enjoyed one of the nicest cigars I have ever smoked, & i have been smoking cigars every day for well over 30 years, most of them Cubans. I feel like I should have not complained back in January, but who could know these cigars would improve so much in a plastic bag in 5 months. I want to buy another box & let them sit for 6 months, but I feel funny about ordering cigars I complained about. Forgive me, for I knew not what I was doing

Macanudo White? Oh man.

I'm sure Tony has a few questions for you.

P.S. Frank has been worried sick!

I **** U not...I almost never smoke Macanudo unless its a gift or the only choice. I sent this post because its almost a miracle. After a steady diet of RyJ, Upmann & Quintero Cubans which have become a problem to procure, I have been searching for some dog walker, yardwork smokes that are tolerable. You turn your nose up at Macanudo White, have you ever actually smoked one thats been aged for 6 months?Just sayin'

Nah I can't say that I have. I'm not much of a Conn. Shade guy.

I think I only have one of them in my collection at the moment and only because it was part of a sampler.

Smoke what you like. I'd say order another box if you want em.

I’mma not necessarily a fan of Connies either but some of the newer Connie blends are much stronger than previous releases. For a change of pace, I’ve enjoyed the MFConnie, Montecristo White, Rojas Breakfast Carnitas and Southern Draw Rose of Sharon blends. Of course ymmv.

Connies worth smoking…
As mentioned, My Father and Rose of Sharon
LFD makes a nice connie
AJ has a couple…
Perdomo has one or two…
There are others…

I'll have to agree with the two above with the My Father, Rose and Carnitas. I do enjoy the Camacho and Breakfast Tacos as well, thats about where my CT exploration has ended. None of these were particularly aged however.

I thought Connies were more or less good to go ROTT and that serious “aging”, as in multi-year, was not a good idea. I smoked a Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne that I had rested for 2 months and it tasted like a giant, ashy non-filter cigarette. I’ve got 9 more I’m going to rest for a few more months.

Aurora Preferidos is a Connie that I enjoy. The La Palina White Pearl is a cheap one that delivers IMHO, great dog walker / yard ‘gar

The San Lotano connie is pretty good

^King, oh yeah, I’ve tried that one. I thought it was pretty decent. It had something to hold on to, not too flimsy in body.

Some do hold up to age.

Undercrown Shade comes to mind. Unless they changed the blend significantly from the OR, they're better with a year on em. I recently bought two boxes and tried one a month later and found it to be just straight paper n pepper. I remember them being a nice pleasant sweet nutty creamy bready smoke with a lil pepper on retro. But my first box was also bought and forgotten about for a year before I opened it, so I'm letting these new boxes sleep till next year before I try another.

Undercrown Shade is the one Connecticut Shade that I have. Guess I'll wait a while to smoke it.

Palama, King,

MF Connecticut is on my list, but when it comes down to ordering I always end up getting a non-shade cigars instead.

Something that I want to try more, or something I want to replace/stock up on.

I did like the Perdomo Champagne, but still haven't purchased more of them.

I’ll definitely try to put some age on a few Connies

Smokes actual cuban cigars and then says a Macanudo white is good?

Methinks them are some glass top box "cuban" cigars.
