A few possibilities Frank.
They have a few bottlings that are lightly peated or unpeated. They use some barley in their malt. Each island has its own distinct flavor. Barrel differences such as original use, char, oak forrest. |

So I bought a bottle of Four Roses small batch today, never had it before. Thought it would set on the shelf for awhile. Then there is a run on pouring it tonight. So what do I do? Of course pour some neat with a few drips of water. All I can say is very, very good. |

All these people talking about drinking 4 roses, and its past 9 in wisconsin (liquor store cutoff in that state is stupid...)
Then, I remembered I'm not in Wisconsin.... See if the old Liquor store up the road from my grandfather's house still exists.... |

Bought a bottle of Glenmorangie Original 10 Year yesterday and it came with two sampler bottles. The Original was surprisingly the best of the three. The other two were the Sherry Cask Finish Lasanta 12 year and Quinta Ruban Port Cask 12 Year. Both of these two had a lot of bite and were not impressive at all.
Also had some Fireball...mmmmm |

Try the Lasanta again. Try it neat with a few drips of water. It is a fine Speyside. I would agree that the original is good. |

I've tried Isle of Jura Superstition and I've got a Signatory IB of 24 yo. The Signatory was only 49.99 from Big Red Liquors about a year ago. Sounds like it was a 1 time deal.
ALSO HOLY CHIT! BUFFALO TRACE IS GOING TO SELL A BARREL TO MY WORK WHISK(E)Y CLUB!!! Trying to work out the logistics. We're going to pick an Eagle Rare and probably bottle it as 1.75s to maximize value. Typical barrel yield is 180 750ml bottles. I asked for a Weller. They politely declined without laughter haha |

HW Rendezvous Rye BRL pick finished 1.5 years in bourbon barrels.
Pretty good stuff. ON sale at the broad ripple BRL for like $55 a bottle instead of the normal 69.99 right now! Don' think they put the sale on all stores like jerks =(
The barrel finish really tames down the MGP rye herabl/dill note that can sometimes be over powering. I think I like this better than SAOS Rye right now. |

I enjoyed Jameson Rarest VIntage and Gold Reserve. I did not like teeling when I had a sample of it from masters of malt. I'm starting to look more at scotch and brandies as well..... its a slippery slope...... |

I'm starting to look more at scotch and brandies as well..... its a slippery slope...... I would recommend Bushmills 16 or 21yo single malt. I never have tried the 10yo offering but the 16 and 21 are excellent for Irish whiskey. |

Springbank 12 cask strength has a similar green apple taste with a little peet. |

Interesting evening. I had Signatory NCF bottling of Peated Jura 24yr. Then I had a mystery sample from a friend. I identified it successfully as a low proof Rye! Mystery reveal was Whistlepig 15!! A 90 proof Rye! Then I compared it to FEW Rye (this **** is ducking garbage) and rittenhouse Rye. Thankfully the WP15 was better than the craft garbage and the value BIB workhorse. I don't know if I could pay 200 for WP15. |
