Maybe after his acquittal he got a touch of remorse for the evil things he did.

I think he probably realized that acquittal was the best possible thing that could happen to him, and then it did happen and nothing changed... he was still going to die a hopeless man... the human body can go 7 days without food, 3 days without water, but not a second without hope...

I dunno opel...I'm doing just fine even though I have no hope that the GOP House will impeach Trump when Russiagate is done...

oh, sorry...Hernandez deserved a Russian execution: long walk between two gorillas holding his arms, with a guy behind him holding a pistol...

Frank is a cutter!

And not the type from the quarry that ride bikes better than the rich kids and the Eye-tallians.

Actually it is the exact opposite frank.

Since he was in the process of an appeal and he has now died his status reverts to and stays as innocent.

This means two things...

1 - The family of the victim will now have a hell of a time with a civil suit against an "innocent" man.
2 - Since he is "innocent" the Patriots have no reason to withhold money and will most likely have to pay his salary and signing bonus that was withheld.

Gotta love our justice system.

you know, I was just making a joke but you are probably right...that sucks, not for the Pats, but for the families.

Technically he may be innocent, but it sure is tuff on Odin Loyd's family.

Yup....in addition to losing a family member, they will now be a victim of a legal loophole.

Now we know why he killed himself when he did...financial security for his family.

His status as "innocent" or "guilty" shouldn't matter when it comes to a civil suit... the threshold for proof is lower and the fact that he was convicted might be allowed in to evidence.... not sure on that last part... I'm not a lawyer but I used to watch a lot of Matlock reruns when i spent the summers with my grandparents, so I'm close...

OJ was "innocent"...

Yes but OJ did not die during an appeal process. Maybe I was wrong when I said "innocent", looks like the charges are void.

I am no lawyer either (and never watched Matlock...LOL) but here is what the experts say

According to Sports Illustrated's Michael McCann, the path to winning a civil suit against Hernandez is now more difficult for Ward because Massachusetts recognizes "abatement ab initio."

That means "Hernandez's convictions for murder and three other charges are technically void" because he "died before he exhausted his appeals."

McCann added the following regarding the civil proceedings moving forward: "Normally those lawsuits continue, with Hernandez's estate replacing him as the defendant. Although the legal burden for proving civil liability is only preponderance of evidence (more probable than not), the nullifying of Hernandez's convictions through 'abatement ab initio' presents an unexpected challenge for attorneys representing the families."

Interesting... still gotta think the evidence presented in his murder trial that surpassed the "beyond a shadow of a doubt" threshold will also surpass the "beyond a reasonable doubt" threshold in civil court...

And you seriously need to watch some Matlock if you ever expect to be respected in conversations regarding legal proceedings.... if you get through all 8 seasons of Matlock it's basically like 2 years of law school...

I'm sure the internet has the story, but he once said when playing in Little League that when he was called out at second base, he took the glass eye out and offered it to the umpire. So he lost it in his youth.

This guy is infatuated with Chester Cheeks, I don't know who this guy is, but if I had to guess it's just a consolation prize where all bimmer really wants is his old man Hairy Cheeks.

He was quite popular. You know, being a tight end and all.
