I have a HP 14" and for what I do on the computer it is more then enough. I use office and search the net with it, nothing major and don't play games so have no idea on that. I had a 15" and it barely would fit in my backpack when traveling, the 14 fits much better and is way lighter.

Depends on what you call inexpensive. Sam's Club has an HP using an AMD A-12 processor (2.5 Ghz base, 3.4 Ghz burst), 8 GB DDR4 Ram, and a 1 TB HD for $399.00 shipped, but you have to be a member. Comes with Windows 10 Home. Search for item #853494.

Yes, it is almost impossible now to get a computer without windows 10. The deal DP has said sounds like a pretty good one.

Ray it really depends on what one plans to do with a laptop that drives the buying decision. If it's for games you'll need one that has a nice graphics card. If you're crunch loads of data you'll be ok with a crappy video card, but you'll need a multi core processor. If you're watching porn one with a handi wipe dispenser and a trash bag will be best.

There's something to be said about a nice Chromebook, if you're basically focused on web surfing, etc.
Good battery life, light, smaller, fast, low cost, simple and relatively secure OS.

Sorry Ram, but I respectfully disagree. Be assured that with a google powered OS absolutely nothing on said laptop is private.

Windows 10 takes up 2-3gb of RAM out the box which doesn't leave much for music/video streaming, internet feeds, word, excel, et cetera.

We've been upping the minimum RAM requirements at work because of the number of complaints we've had with 4gb systems. We might deploy a reimaged computer and after 3-6 months they're complaining it's not fast enough for apps like excel amd word or video playback is slow and choppy unless they play a lower quality stream.

Not only that but going from 4gb to 8gb will basically double the time you need between upgrades.

If you can afford it go with the 8gb ram, you might be able to find one for $50-$100 more than the 4gb models.
