ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is proposing to complete and connect two greenway trails crisscrossing the state from Manhattan to Canada and from Albany to Buffalo to create a 750-mile paved biking and hiking route that will be marketed as a national tourist destination.

"We want to build the largest multi-use trail in the nation," said the Democratic governor at a state of the state speech Tuesday in Westchester County. Cuomo proposed spending $200 million over three years to pave 350 miles of gaps in the existing greenways and connect them to create what he calls the Empire State Trail.

It's feel good legislation. Kinda like the story about the emperor and his new clothes.

Nope, perhaps a cousin. The emperor thought he had clothes. Victor's buddy knew he was naked.

$200 million... For a bike trail... Like a modern day Chisholm Trail... with taxpayer money... And there's NOTHING ELSE in this world that the money could be used for that has a better purpose...

Could it be one way only going north?

What the hell, go for it, they've spent way more on much less with my money in the past.

Unfortunately common sense doesn't seem to be a prerequisite for any government job.

Walls went obsolete when they built airplanes. Tunnels almost got them first.

Does that apply to the wall and the trail (I'm sure there's a river or 2 on the Mex border).

We walk the rail trail on Cape Cod for exercise when we vacation on the Cape. They use tunnels, overpasses and sometimes just crosswalks to bypass obstacles.

This is a no brainer.

Trump will get the Canadians to pay for it.

A,200 million on a bike trail???? This is either fake news (Did CNN confirm..😁😁), not the entire story and/or insane . The latter describes the government and makes almost any story sound credible... If true what a load of horse turds.... Are there rest stops every 5 miles where complementary drinks and a buffet is served 24 7? Do they give you a bike and or have a free hiking gear stores along the way ? Do they have tour guides to follow you explaining the varieties of Flora and Fauna? Computer access? Heck everyone gets s free computer and a funny tee-shirt if they hike the trail...
