Yes he still protects me.....

I stopped in to see how the IPCRP went in Vegas. He said it was pathetic, and sad. No new blends or releases due to the FDA nonsense. They went over the door and don't's for what they can do as far as events and such. They expect a lot of consolidation and people going out of business.

Sad, really... but we always have the overseas vendors if ya nome sayin'.

Trying to win a few 5 packs of NC's I still enjoy. Asshats keep bumpin' up the bid... but I refuse to lose, and being in CA if I pay a little over retail it's still cheaper than I can get 'em here.

You're welcome CBid. d'oh!

MACS....yeah I hear ya. But it's a shpo that is run by passionate enthusiasts that I enjoy visiting and helpING keep their doors open. They try to keep a great variety and they actually listen to customers that they can learn from. When they opened they didn't really understand the different offerings from Fuente and they'd never smoked a Tatuaje.....or a kooban for that matter. Now they Carry a ton of stuff, which is saying A LOT in Oregon. I can count great shpos here on one hand.

Mr Jones......they can do that out the FRONT door here in Oregon. That's not the business they're interested in.

Don't worry, Teebone. I won one of my lots but it was only $5 under retail at the mothership. d'oh!

It's hard to win the good lots at a decent price. Especially when you got folks from high tax states bidding. If I win VSG's for $10 each, that's a huge discount over retail in CA. Like 50% off.

Sad to hear that. I work in a totally unrelated industry and the increased gov't regulations have caused an increase in mergers as the smaller organizations are just not able to keep up with the compliance cost.

I don't visit the local B&M too often. Usually it is just to buy some singles to determine if they are box-worthy before i decide to purchase online. Not to mention that there are not a lot of B&M where i live. The closest one to me, the guy that is always working there comes off as a cigar snob (i always was under the impression he owned the place but not sure). Last time i was in there he asked i was going to buy the Davidoff Year of the Monkey. I told him i do not usually buy Davidoff as i find them overpriced. He said nothing is better than a Davidoff and asked mme what i like. I mentioned some of the brands i like and he scoffed at those. Then another patron comes over and joins our conversation to let me know how inferior the cigars i mentioned were to any Davidoff. It has been a while since i have gone back there.

My local shop is hosting an event later this month for the Ashton release of Quintessense. I am wondering when the effects of the FDA ruling will really start to be noticeable by consumers. I asked this at my local store and they didn't seem concerned about it much at all.

Can they do discounts to some kind of loyalty club ? I know Diamond Crown has one that sends swag and cigars to members a few times a year .

You didn't tell him you'd rather eat your own arsehole than smoke a Gurkha? I know I would have.

Yes, I like that one as well. I really liked the Yamasa, and IMO are box-worthy. I am waiting on my humidors to deplete a little and then that will likely be the next box I buy.

I dunno, the next box I buy will probably be the Opus 20th Anniversary. If that doesn't turn out then it will either be Padron or Davidoff.

^ yup.

We have a measure up for vote this November to tax GROSS RECEIPTS.

Basically a sales tax with no legal bind to spending. But it's being portrayed as being for "education" when in fact it's a bandaid for our broken PERS retirement system that our DemocRATS refuse to address (maybe because they created it).
