I think the date we picked was the date that worked for the people in attendance.... I know that earlier in April was discussed but passed on because of the temp being cold this year and last. It's a fine line dealing with temp, cause we had one in May and everyone melted... I believe that a few people had problems with the earlier date and the next weekend was getting close to Easter...

As far as my schedule, I am off the following weekends:
March 17 - 19
March 31 - April 2
April 14 - 16 Easter
April 28 - 30
May 12 - 14 Mothers day

It is not outside of the box for me to take vacation for a weekend to go up, and who knows, I might even be retired by then.... I would like to see the most go that want to go....

One other thing to think about is that anytime before Easter, crawfish are much more expensive, sometimes double....

Oklahoma doesn't suck but........I am finally going to retire next June (28 years). The wife and I are looking to go somewhere warm and near the water. N. Florida seems like a good choice.

No need to be passive aggressive.

The date was picked for several reasons. It worked for all in attendance, it was a couple of weeks after Easter, and it was later in the year in hopes that it wouldn't be chilly. The last weekend of March also worked for everyone but we opted for 4 weeks later to try to have a warmer herf.

With that being said, I'm sure the last weekend of March would work as well. Some other plans will need to be made, such as bringing propane heaters and such to combat the cold. No big deal at all. Everyone was picking the dates so that it would be inclusive to all. Everyone wants you there, Prop. Don't get your feelings hurt.

As long as Ray and Blue are OK with it (they are the two most important... land and food), the change is easily made.

Blue already said he is OK. As soon as Ray does the same, I'll edit the initial post.

We have always had it the end of March or 1st of April. This year was the latest it's ever been held. We had one cold year if you consider 50's cold. BRRRRR.
It's not about being held for me, so keep the date.
I just cant make it

Talk to Tex. Not sure if he was going to be able to make either date. I believe the end of the month was a better chance if he were to make it. John and I are OK w either dates. You, Ray, TJ and Tex were the only factors.

Just a little history - had the herf in late March once, temps were in the low 30s, high 20s. Once in May, it was HOT!

I'm not in charge here. Just started the new thread because no one else did. Either weekends work for me. Tex wasn't sure if he was coming but the later date was better for him.

Someone give me the word and I'll edit the post.

Blue's dates all line up with my custody schedule so if he is good, I'm good.

I think we all agree that there are 2 folks that determine the dates of the Herf. Ray and Blu. By far, they bring the most to the party. All others are guest, and I'm absolutely including myself.

Of course we all want everyone there, but we also know that's almost impossible to accommodate. It's not the same when one of our brothers or sisters can't join. I know many were missed this year.

As far as a date to determine weather, good luck with that. We say in the Sip," if you don't like it, wait a day or two. It will change". Typically mid to late April is going to be wet. I think we all agree that rain is more concern than mild temps. Easy measures can't aid with cool weather, but there isn't much way to resolve 90 degree heat.

The parent in me wants to say, Prop did put in his request early.

So Blu and Prop are good for April fools weekend. I like it also. Just need Ray to weigh in.

Just my .02 worth.
