Lost Spirits Cuban Inspired 151 proof Rum...whoa!

this is one crazy distillery out there in CA. Recently learned they have an American Single Malt Whisky (or whiskey) in addition to brain destroying rums.

buckle up!
I have found a little water and maybe an ice cube or two tames it and allows the flavor to shine...but of course I always start neat and add until it works for me on any given night.

they make 3 (that I am aware of) very high abv. I have two here, one is 75.5% and one is 68% abv, I think the other is just a bit lower, not much.

the chit is kickazz.

Dang it I was slowing down on the whiskey, mainly due to my love of craft brews but now you guys are opening me to another world of liquor. Just had my 1st glass of Zaya and I love the smell. I used an ice sphere in it and about half way through the glass it was really good. Now I see this Lost Spirits and I have a feeling this will turn into another run of having to try as many as possible.

I know, I've been trying to make it last!

But it's such a powerhouse I hesitate to recommend it.

Don't dive into the deep end yet. Lost Spirits is a whole different animal in the rum world.

I'm sure that Z drinks it outta the bottle with a straw, but most of the time I have to cut it somewhat with water or ice, especially if I don't want it to dominate my cigar.

I sip it neat.

But today I made a Polynesian painkiller:

4 ounces pineapple juice
1 ounce orange juice
1 ounce coconut cream
3 ounces lost spirits navy style rum.

I like that recipe, and I already know that the Lost Spirits rum won't get lost in the mix

You do know I was kidding about the straw, but I assumed you drank it neat.

Tonight, Cachaca Boazinha, Brazil

Finally busted open the bottle of Zaya and poured a shot into the "Entering Cape Cod" shot glass that Frank sent (...mahalos FS...). Immediately noticed vanilla and went down smooth. Iffin' I didn't have to work tomorrow (...was originally scheduled to be off but GOTTA go in for a rollout with one of our national accounts...), I'd be having a 2nd, 3rd and even 4th shot. d'oh!

Thanks Carl!

Father's Day gift from my son, Aguardente Nacional Velha "Nos Grogo"
it's a rum from sugar cane, product of Cabo Verde.

pretty nice, very warming inside, don't know where he got it but it is in a 0.70 L bottle.
Good with a AF R44

do not exhale near open flames.

for that matter, don't fart either, nothing to do with the rum though.

The Scarlet Ibis...Trinidad

sugar cane, dryer than most, 98 proof.

Per the blurb on the label, a blend of the island's small batch rum production from the country's diverse terrain.

"Originally commissioned by the New York bar Death & Company and ongoing is bottled only as the limited blend becomes available."

Also states rum is distilled in Trinidad, produced in Austria.

$30...I like it. Matched nicely with a JL #2.
