Got a “Pre-Order Now!” message for these but at $22 each! Don’t recall smoking the OR but iffin’ I did, must not have been that memorable. Anyone foaming at the mouth to get these?

I had a bundle of the O R and really liked them. Think I paid about $8 each. No way I'm buying at that price. Gillis is getting flaky with some of his offerings lately.

Whoa! Gonz

That’s a crazy price differential between the OR and Redux!

KSG lives in a totally different planet than the rest of us. d'oh!

I’mma sure you got the same e-mail as me from an offshore place that has them on sale for $15.70-ish per.

Close enough or do you think there’s gonna be a better price sooner or later? Think

Yep. Still not buying. IIRC the O R were very nice but not worth that kinda coin.

I see people on Fakebook showing their boxes of it and would love to hear an honest review.

A cigar group on Zuc’s platform had a BOTL that works a shpo selling boxes…..I’m going to assume these aren’t flying at the rate they intended them to.

Thinkin’ mebbe the price was still too high or people like me were waiting for reviews before buying.

Also, turning merchandise is the key to a volume business like tobacco shops so (perhaps) making 25% to 35% margin instead of 60% to 100% and getting the ca$hflow flowing might be the driving factor. Depending on payment terms and ca$h discounts on early payments, small businesses cannot let their inventory sit for longer than 30, 60 or 90 days.

But, going back to DED’s post about getting the OR at $8 each, iffin’ I had purchased them at that price, I’d be very hesitant on paying almost 3x more when they came out again.

Knew it! d'oh!

Oh well, I don’t have the sophisticated / developed palate of Katman’s but have noticed I agree with a lot of his reviews. Well, okay, all except for those cigars with MSA in the blend. I don’t even read the reviews, I just skim down for the sidebar story.

Since I waited so long, I may hafta search the ends of the world now to find some Black Honeys.

CI has them, but $20 per. Maybe get luck with a coupon or add a new email for the 25%.

As to Katman, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I like or love pretty much everything he does even if I can't taste a barnyard after an early winter tornado following a light snack of capers and pinenuts.

Unfortunately the Mothership doesn’t ship to Hawaii anymore. Not talking

Actually the one thing I like about Phil is that he’ll joke about his developed palate and not sound like a snob while coming up with flavors. I just can’t believe he likes MSA. Brick wall

Is that near Compton? Think

Believe it or not but I’ve been there. Was for a business trip when I was with Sony. We had a BIG office and warehouse complex with barbed wire topped fences surrounding the joint. My Hawaii co-worker and I had driven to the office and after our meeting was done, was told to not dilly-dally and head straight back to our hotel. A few months later NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton” was released.

OK, so you know...coincidentally, just a few miles west of there, in Gardena, is a significant pocket of Japanese Americans with a commercial zone dominated by Japanese businesses. It's a very nice and sparkling section of Greater L.A. The contrast with some neighborhoods only a few miles away is stark, although there are some good middle class sections of Compton.

Roger that.

Had a buddy that lived in Torrance and worked for Honda America for 30-something years. Stayed at his house a couple of times and the area seemed pretty good. In fact, I went jogging one time (…and came back in one piece…). He’s since retired and moved to Las Vegas.

Well after reading Katman's review again and again, I broke and bought a box. Found a $50 coupon from the motheship and jumped.

Palama, just throwing this out to you, if you want to put in an order I'll be more then happy to forward to you when they arrive.

Thanks for the offer but in a moment of panicness (…not sure if that’s a word…), I used one of Katman’s sponsors and their 15% discount and got a box too. I split it with my nephew who also experienced some FOMO. Shipping from that vendor was free so some of the sting of paying more was lessened a bit.

All I know is that for the relatively high cost, they better be good! Gonz

My thought exactly.
I'm a sucker for "rare" every single time.

CAO Amazon Basin......got me
CAO Amazon Basin Extra Anejo........got me
Dunbarton Red Meat Lovers.........got me
And now Black Honey

So far though they have all been hits, at least in my book they are

Copy that.

But it won’t be till January as I typically let cigars rest for at least 3 weeks.

Thanks for the heads up. After reading the reviews, glad I didn’t spring for a full box. But now thinking an even longer nap might be more beneficial so gonna let mine hibernate for a couple more months.

Yup. Used to be one of my favorite shows back-in-the-day. I wasn’t doing karate anymore but definitely appreciated the mental and physical training portrayed in the show.

I find myself in agreement with most halfwheel reviews. I also consider what gets posted here. Often times I won’t spend over $20 unless highly recommended by friends, this forum or high halfwheel rating. I will say some people on here are big on Warped…so I do have them on my list to try!

For what it's worth, I loved it. At least I loved the one that I did end up having already. I did buy a box and had them for about 1 month, stored at 65%. I sometimes have a hard time describing certain flavors, but I know what I like/love vs what I don't. I did pick up some pepper, both black and red, both on the lighted side through most of it both black stuck out as more as I came to the end. Also, and some creamy chocolate and a good as well. Lots of other stuff going on as well but I can't place the tastes, there was nothing at all unpleasant about this, and I certainly didn't come across anything I would describe as chalk. I had read only the Katman review prior to buying and I'm inclined to agree with him, though his had more rest than mine, but I have to believe these will get better with age. I would consider another box if I can get my hands on another 30% coupon. At full price, I'd balk.

Pretty much the same with me except I also follow Katman. His tastes (…other than MSA…) kinda aligns with mine so his reviews carry a little more weight than Halfwheel since you may or may not get a reviewer that has similar tastes as you. I also like Blindsmanpuff since it’s multiple blind reviewers so while it’s more of a shotgun approach, I like that.

Warped has been hit or miss for me but in the last couple years, been more hit. Hopefully more rest is the key to the Black Honey and my nephew and I didn’t throw away money.

Thanks for the recommendation of the dude Katman’s reviews.

Based on his 96 rating review of the Foundation Charter Oak Pegnataro. It sounds like the right of blend I would like. So I’m off to buy some!

$132 is a good price. I follow a thread on another website where deals are posted almost daily and ended up getting two boxes at around $121 each, I believe, It was months ago. I haven't seen a similar deal since then. I'd buy them at $132, definitely.

Damn! W-A-Y better than what my nephew and I paid late last year! d'oh!

BUT, after reading JGAZ’s experience, not gonna jump through any hoops to get more. Not talking

At least for now.

Mebbe by the time the 50% fire sale comes up I’ll have smoked one or 2 and can decide whether or not to get more.

“Bad construction” should NOT be associated with a $22 MSRP cigar! ram27bat

I didn’t smoke too many Warped cigars when they hit the market so can’t comment on the quality of the construction in the early years but you’d think by now, Gellis would have figured out where and whom to roll his higher end smokes. I’ll say this much, I’ve NEVER had a badly constructed high end Fuente, My Father or Padron.

Thinking mebbe I should smoke one of my Black Honeys (…take it anyway you want…LOL!…) sooner rather than later just to check out the construction, draw and smoke volume.

Found that fiver somewhere, it came in the mail today. Partially crushed, well shaken, and beaten to a pulp. Return to sender.
