It’s tough to smoke in NY when it’s 20 degrees out so a few questions:
1. I have a propane heater but it doesn’t really do the trick. I’m sitting and the heater is higher up. Anybody using anything different?
2. Gloves? The kind that you can text with? I play scrabble while I smoke and can’t use normal gloves
Thanks

20 degrees eh?
Too cold for me.
Besides, I find once it gets into the mid 30s or so, cigars just dont taste “right” to me.
Probably just me.

Move?

I gave away a tower propane heater because I never used it. Works great as long as you are setting under it. Looks like this but can be found for under $100.

I use a tower propane heater when it gets really chill here, like sub 55 degrees, also while sitting...

The thing I have come to realize is that it does not "make you warm", it only makes you "not too cold".

Do you have a garage that you can heat?

I smoke in my garage. Have a natural gas fireplace out there that will heat it well on mild days 20-30s and I fire up the kerosene burner when it's really cold. Once the kerosene burner gets it to 70 I turn that off and the gas fireplace keeps the temps.

I have a patio heater too, but that's really only good for like 50 degree days.

Sorry, but 20 degrees Celsius is not all that cold to me. Stiffen up a little bit, man.

Gets cold here too. I put a wood stove in my shed. If I feel like a smoke I’ll light it and go back out in an hour. Sometimes I forget to light it but it’ll keep you as warm as you wanna be. Anywhere you can get out of the wind with some sort of heat

Fahrenheit 451: The Temperature at Which Books Burn.

On my top 10 of books to read. That doesn't answer your original post questions though.

NINE!

I don't smoke as often as I use to but when I do, during the cold months here in MA, it's indoors next to an open window and a fan that exhausts out. It works for me but as I said, I'm not smoking 3 cigars a day. Maybe once a week or so. More in the summer months but that is mostly done outside while going on a walk around the pond/lake on the nearby trails

I’ve thought of getting a heater for when the humidity is 60% or less, the winds more than 15 mph and temps drop below 69F. In lieu of one, I bundle up in sweatpants, sweatshirt and socks to stay warm. Never thought of using gloves but that might be something to consider too.

That's skinny dipping temps... but not worth getting arrested and having to file for being a pervert and stuff.

I went camping once with my son about 10 years ago and once with a girlfriend before I was married about 35 years ago

That was enough to fully realize it ain’t for me.

Layers and insulated overalls usually keeps me tolerable down to about 25 degrees if I'm motivated. Been feeling a little thin skinned the past couple winters, so haven't braved it as much. Plus I don't smoke in the car anymore which has also cut down on my winter smoking

I feel like a good camping experience is leaving the campsite, finding a restaurant with good wings, cold beer and a football game on the tv, then going back to a hotel

I definitely find myself choosing shorter cigars to smoke in the winter. Sub-60 degrees F can be pretty brutal here in AZ.

I'm lucky that we didn't need the separate attached single car garage that came with this house. I converted it into a mancave. Outfitted with 2 comfy leather recliners, two papasan chairs, 3 bar stools, regulation dart board, humidifier, two ceiling exhaust fans, air scrubber and ventilation fan, 55inch plasma, receiver, turntable, CD and DVD players. I can enjoy a cigar in comfort despite high winds, cold temps and pouring rain...had it all the past week or two...

space heater keeps it above 67F in the winter ...and built in AC keeps it around 76F during the heat of summer

I have a friend who has the biggest RV available. Paid like $600k for it.
Major pain in the ass, though. Always breaking down, gas, tolls, etc.
Not for me.

Either one of these will get the heat down closer to where you are sitting. I have used both and enjoyed the heat I received.

Might work as well, but I have never used this one specifically.

wife is a keeper and she said as long as it's my money that is being spent, go for it...we have separate savings, checking and credit card accounts so we've never had money disputes that have buried many marriages...

delta, my wife and I do the same thing with money. She has hers, I have mine, we share expenses, and we've never had an argument about money. She teases me for the money I spend on cigars, but in the end, no skin off her back.

I did it when she was gone, cleaned up and she couldn't even tell. So I then admitted it and she didn't believe me, then I told her how I cleaned up and she was fine with it.

Smoke eater candle lit while smoking and for an hour after, spray Ozium neutralizing spray after, take ashtray outside right after smoking, leave window cracked open for an hour after. You will be able to smell it the next morning, light smoke eater candle again for an hour, spray Ozium neutralizing spray again, and light a good sleeping candle. Smell will be gone.

While smoking is gonna smell obviously, but the stale smell will go away, but for sure don't leave any ash or ashtrays inside. Mine go right into the fire pit outside.

Good luck with the wife.

Not even going to try. I could gut the entire room, seal the studs and flooring, replace drywall, carpet, repaint... and the wife would still "smell" it
