Anybody using one of these electronic humidifiers? Getting a perfect 69% (I know how that sounds) is my white whale, my Holy Grail, my reason to keep breathing. Im using Bovedas in my Tupperdor and its perfect. But Im always on the lookout for something else.
So this thing seems like it would be a good option in a Tupper or larger desk top humidor and its about $110. Am I just wasting money on this thing? Is it overkill? My tupper can hold about 100 smokes, give or take, but I never have that many.
Whats the consensus?
thanks all and Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all who celebrateHerfing

One of the electric dealys might make sense in a large container, but for a 100count, the Bovedas are perfect and foolproof. You can also augment with beads (Heartfelt, RhShield, etc). The excess moisture given off by the beads, recharges the Bovedas, all for less than $110

Also, to each their own, but I'd recommend exploring lower than 69%. 65% and under is my personal preference

Beads work just like Bovedas, 2 way humidification (discharge humidity when environment is too dry and such it up when environment is too wet). They're set for a specific % humidity. However they dry put faster than Bovedas, so you add distilled water to them more often than you have to recharge Bovedas

So when you use both, as the beads dry out, or discharge extra humidity after you add water, the Bovedas take in the moisture. I've got a few containers with both and had the same packs in them for a couple of years now

Agree with Dano on most of his points but fwiw, from my experience, storing Connie wrapped smokes at 69% has worked better for me. The thinner, more delicate wrappers have cracked on me when stored at 65%. I also put Cameroon smokes in the same humidor too.

That makes sense. I don't store too much in the way of Connies

Interesting points all around especially about the beads and Bovedas. I always assumed you couldn’t use both but this makes a lot of sense

Used in tandem, pretty much a maintenance free setup.
They only maintenance i have to do is recharge 3-5 Bovedas………per year.

Yeah………and 69rh too high imho.
Your hygrometer probably has at least a 1-2% error margin.
Your 69, could very easily in fact be 71, or more, when your hygro is reading 69.
I prefer 63-65.

That’s interesting, I usually have to recharge my beads. I haven’t had to do anything to my Bovedas at all and I’ve had them for two years.

Hmm…
My beads get recharged from the Bovedas….when they need to…..which isn't that often.

I've found that one 300g boveda works good in 60qt weather tight tupperdores which can hold approximately 300 sticks.

IMO, even 69 percent is too high. I go for higher than 62, lower than 68.

Really landed happy on the 65 bovedas. They keep it a tik under 65 for me and my cigars have been wonderful

I’m going to take everyone’s advice here and switch to a 65% boveda setup.
Unfortunately I just got an Xmas gift of a 69% 4-pack so…fml
