there was a time that I thought the Padilla Signature 1932 Pepin Rolled was the best cigar I ever had.....until I had my first Bolivar Royal Corona, and although I have had some really good cigars(CC and Non-CC), there just isnt a cigar that can touch a Boli RC...the consistency is phenominal with them..mmmmm

Just my opinion

The best cigars are the most expensive:
Padron heavy duty nicotine bombs like Family Reserve
AF Opus XXXXXXXXX
Any Graycliff, Gurkha, Rocky Puntel or any other overpriced stix they can trick you into paying for etc.

Noobs should chase and buy those at every opportunity!

First one of those I smoked, I got light headed about 1/3 of the way through...

The best cigar I've ever smoked, is generally the one I just finished.

Best cigar I ever had was a Monte #2 from a batch I got several batches ago.

I just remember it being the best damn cigar I ever smoked, though I can't really remember any details about it now, lol.

Can't say I've ever had another Monte #2 like that before or since.

Such as CCs, every once in a while you hit the jack pot on one, but most of the time they are just ok (or plugged).

Anyway, the most consistent and always amazing cigar for me is the Padron 1926 40 year natural.

That one is probably "my best" cigar.

Edit:

With that said... if we take into account price (more specifically, price you can get them for if you're patient)...

Oliva V Melanio Natural. This one has been consistently good for me over the years, a long time favorite. It hits my palate right. Robusto and torpedo are my favorite vitolas.

The best cigar I ever had was a 2003 Montecristo C EL, gifted by Macs when Delta1 and I had a chance to herf with him in Nov. 2015 in LA. It was soooooo good, didn't want it to end. The only thing better was the company I was with, two of CBid's finest. ThumpUp

I recall that evening. Awesome meal, great cigars, and just an all around good time. Those were my last 3 Monte C EL's... can't find 'em now, and if you do they're cost prohibitive.

Best cigar I ever had was a 1987 Dunhill Cabinetta from buckwheat. Shared it with echo4alpha and xibbumbero at the LCdH in Tijuana with a few mojitos. #2 was a custom rolled Taboada, fresh off the table. He asked what I wanted and I watched him hand roll that sucker.

My go to is the BCG or a Monte Edmundo.

I remember that night with Palama and MACS at the Taps restaurant in Irvine. Hope we can get together again, either here or in Hawaii. That was a great cigar...

...but the best cigar I've ever had was an awesome Punch, forgot the vitola and manufacture date, that MACS gave me when we first met at Taps, a restaurant that allows smoking in the outdoor patio, in Corona. The second best was a Monte Edmundo (again...forgot the year) MACS gave me to smoke while we chatted, enjoyed the smoke and a beer and watched the blood moon in Ventura. Good times...

That was a Punch SS#1 from '03 IIRC.

I feel your pain/know what you are talking about. I think the most I have spent is like $130 on La Aurora Preferidos.

You folks need to do your homework. CC's are cheaper than the mid-level crap being sold here.

Boli CG's... $10 each if you buy the whole box.

That is still 70-100 dollars more than I have ever spent on a box...

Maybe so, but just because you're cheap, doesn't mean Cuban cigars are expensive.

Party shorts are around $5 each if you buy a cab. QdO coronas are around $6.50 each. Juan Lopez #1 or #2 are about $7 each.

I could go on and on... but you get the point. Now when you compare them to the overpriced Padron and Fuente products? Get right outa town! Padron and Fuente are good. I like 'em. Ashton VSG's too... but when they're twice as much and not as good as CC's?? Nope.

I don't disagree. And I'm not saying they are expensive, just too expensive for me. Plus how you get them seems a little sketchy to me.

Opus X A. Smoked with Bart on the back porch of the Golf Clubhouse. It was a great cigar, awesome company, and an overall unforgettable day. (Thanks Bart)

Though I enjoy Cuban cigars and their unique flavor, overall I still prefer nonISOM; I find the variety in flavor, strength profile etc. to be a winning hand.
With that said, I cannot wait until Cubans make it to the US market. More importantly I really am excited about the blends that might come from ISOM and NonISOM marriage and the improved product development too come to Cuba.

I haven't spent more than $5 on a cigar in awhile and I rarely buy boxes... I was getting my DE stuff for less than $3 a stick... flor de las antillas for $2.50 a stick and some other my father stuff for around $3.25 a stick... and some julius caesers for $4 each... that's what I've been smoking... more than anything I just smoke way too much but when I get down to a few cigars a week I'll definitely be heading in the cuban direction...

Only thing that sucks about box splits is knowing you're going to have to give up half of what ever comes through the door... and some if you use creative packaging materials.

it's not really where, it's how... and for 4 easy payments of $19.95 plus s+h you too can become a certified member of the dpnewell school of bidding...

seriously though, the $4 dc's were an anomaly, but a delicious one... the fdla's were awesome when they were around... I went through 4 or 5 bundles (not boxes)... I believe they're long gone by now...

I've never seen the FDLA for $2.50 per... I think the best I ever got them for was ~$4.00 per.

I'm not patient enough for dpnewell's style. Maybe when I retire, I can sit around all day throwing out drunken underbids, until then, it's war!!!

BGZ the overbidder!

My best score recently was probably some clearance PAN 44 years (6 pack) for ~ $13.50 per. Total Wine was dumping them, so I bought all they had then told them 2 of them had screwed up wrappers and got my average down.
