Read one article and watched one news piece. I don't know a whole lot about it. What I do believe after learning just a little is.....that the kids are good....at least all that I heard/read about....the parents, however....they all suck

My only other thought has been that a wrestler of any sex/persuasion at any level should probably not be completing if taking hormones and/or steroids. I realize there are medical exemptions in the rules for this case, but ....why?

Why do the parents suck? My first reactions (before actually finding out the real story) was..."Well no $hit....of course this kid is going beat girls. He's been taking testosterone and is jacked. He needs to be competing with the boys. Turns out...that is EXACTLY what he wanted to do but Texas wouldn't let him. So he beat the **** outta bunch of girls

I would argue that if you're all jacked up on hormones, you shouldn't be allowed to compete period.

I don't want my boy wrestling girls and I don't want my girl wrestling boys...

and as has been said, the kid is jacked up on performance enhancing drugs... they shouldn't even be allowed to compete...

If my kid is competing in an athletic competition, I want him or her to face an opponent that will challenge them to do their best to win.

End of story. And as far as "performance enhancing drugs".....that "drug" is the same "drug" that you and I have coursing through our veins every single day. Some more than others, some, like Drafter, less.

yes, lets... I have little kids... I don't want boys in a position where they can fondle my daughters vagina... now, without sounding like a child molester, explain to me how my thinking needs to change...

yes, specifically women have less than men... so when a girl takes a bunch of it and then faces off against girls who don't have anywhere near as much, that drug has enhanced their performance... whether that was the intention or not, it's what happened... she had an unfair advantage...

so if his best competition happens to be a 58 year old transient who specializes in the "butt drag" you're cool with that? cuz it's just a competition and stuff?

I was thinking more like drugs and therapy. I'm sure most of those people are on heavy meds to begin with, might need to switch them onto something new. Y'know there are people now who think they're squirlls, dogs, cats, and rabbits now trying to justify that in order to engage in beastiality. It's freaking disturbing.

You're right. That is why this young person with the mind and strength of a male that happens to have female genitalia should have been competing against males. and as far as changing your mind...why? You are entitled to your opinion.

Now c'mon Opel........don't make it stupid. We can have discourse without it going dumb. We're discussing a sanctioned high school athletic competiton.

Ok, let's do it your way... lets say it's your 14 year old daughter and she's competing against a guy named preston hill... he was a high school wrestler in our area who got in trouble for employing am oft-used wrestling move called the "butt check" which all high school wrestling coaches admit occasionally involves rectal penetration with the finger...

You're ok with your 14 year old daughter being anally penetrated by a boy her age?

Probably no more or less ok than if it were done to a son....I think that'd be an 'offense' worthy of a zero tolerance stance....immediate one year suspension....if not arrest

this guy only got in trouble because he was known to brag about doing the butt check move as his signature move - also known as checking the oil - and intentionally ramming his finger up people's buttholes... but the move happens all the time in high school wrestling...

i read your link...nothing there convinced me otherwise....I'll admit that I always that there was bit of the queer gene in those guys who lived for wrestling....I have, over the years, gained a bit more respect for most of them....but this discussion has countered much of that....I don't care at all whether practitioners consider it 'legitimate'....it is not EVER ok for a minor (or adult, for that matter) to have someone's finger stuck up their ass without consent

Dsteig - i'm with you 100%... but the wrestling community is not...

And this isn't new... I was in high school in the late 90's... one of my buddies was a promising wrestler... a couple months into the season someone "checked his oil" and when he complained the coaches told him that was part of the sport... and he wasn't a wrestler after that... we played tennis instead... oddly enough, a sport equally as gay as the butt check...

I'd love to see a celebrity PSA about this... maybe Gary busey...

"hey kids, if there's one thing i know it's that it's okay to be a little different... but you know what's not okay? Sticking your finger up someone's butt during a high school sanctioned wrestling match..."

Hang on...

So opel is now arguing it's more appropriate that people of the same sex stuck things in each other's buttholes than people of opposite sex?

They do treat it with drugs and therapy. Estrogen and testosterone and counseling- just not the type you are probably referring to.

Our veins, sure... but the girl that was wrestling the other girls is at an unfair advantage since she's taking testosterone to become a boy.

Yep, exactly the point. PEDs should not be allowed in high school competition.

When are these knuckleheads going to learn, there are differences in the sexes, and that's just the way it is.

You can't have natural boy trannies wrestling the girls either, because even if he's juiced up on estrogen, he's still got the natural strength of a dude... unfair advantage.

You can't have girls juiced up on testosterone for the same reason... unfair.

There's a reason why you can't be juiced up on hormones in professional and international competitions.

I mean, if you want to dump a bunch of hormones in your body, that's on you... but if you do it, you shouldn't be allowed to compete in organized athletic competitions.

I know liberals want to push their PC agenda into every facet of everyone's lives, but in this case, science wins. The only fair solution is to not let the hormone junkies compete.

I absolutely did. And you have one on one battles but it's a dynamic field. You encounter a variety of opponents in different positions etc. You may dominate the person over you but still suffer a big loss. I also ran track. No place to hide there. It's quantified. You run faster, jump higher or farther or throw something farther than your opponent to win your event. It's actually less subjective than wrestling.

I don't want anything to be about buttholes... but wrestling - at least to a degree - does involve some amount of butthole touching... I don't think anyone should be subjected to butthole touching without consent, but I especially think an underage girl should not be subjected to unconsented butthole touching by an underage boy... because #buttholetouchingmatters...
