OH! And it is my third day of feeling pretty good mentally, hopefully it can last the whole day. Not sure if it is the meds or just trying to work on my mindset. Don't care which it is, I feel good.

Just about sold my soul to get the day before my vacation off.

Added on four 12 hour nights to the week before vacation. Gonna be doing 9 12s in a row and then going on vacation. Should appreciate it more that way I spose.

I hate that.
I always have to work so damn hard for weeks before a vacation just to keep my projects on schedule. Makes the vacation not worth it to me...

If it were up to me I wouldn't do long vacations... but it's never up to me.

I hear you. Had five hours time away yesterday for a funeral, and today just because I have time I should start burning.

A day and a half away has a price that goes with it, and it will be paid tomorrow.

That's my new "secret service" outfit.

I figure if Trump's blowing our tax money on security, I may as well get in on it.

I'm trying to decide if I want to fish the Coronado Islands tomorrow on the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing.

Pros: I've fished the Coronado's with Captain Ryan twice, both times I caught a lot of fish (20 total). Not a lot of pressure lately due to the weather and the lack of boats going out.

Cons: I'd have to get up at 4am.

Yup. Already have one, so the trip price would be a little lower. Otherwise, it's included in the price of the trip. $145 for a 12 hour trip. Takes about an hour and a half to get there, so you got 8+ hours of good fishing. If the bite is on, the captain will stay longer. Gives you a chance to burn a smoke on the way there and back.

That's his niche. He does 12 hour trips to the Coronados all damn season. 75 x 23 ft boat. He takes a max of 55 people.

Depends on the time of year. Bass, rock fish, lingcod, yellowtail, bonito, sculpin, barracuda.

When the tuna are close enough he goes off shore to chase them.

Wish we had some islands within 100 miles or so. Nearest spar rigs to us are 140 nm. In about 3000 ft. Yellowfin bite is usually good there but its a two day trip for us. Plenty of other fish inshore from 40 to 70 miles so that's where we fish most often.

Yeah, my usual spot is either the La Jolla or Point Loma kelp beds. The Islands are 20 miles from the launch, but in Mexican waters so there's paperwork to do and fees to pay.

I plan on going to La Jolla next Saturday with my own boat. Me, my boss, and delta1 are going to see if the rockfish are biting. Lord willing... we find some yellowtail who haven't migrated south.

Some stay. They call 'em "home guard" and they're usually big'uns.
