January started off on the wrong foot for me, I am looking for work in an industry that wants kids that will work cheap and hope by the time a turnaround happens the kids will be experienced and acceptable to clients. Okay I’m old and have lots of bad habits, I too replaced older and experienced guys but that was due to retirement or death way back when. Crap, crap, crap.

Weather has not been conducive to cigars either, too cold or too damp outside, I am one grumpy Waldo.

Enough whining I’ll be fine, thanks for the vent.

The great news for the new year is my DIL got a graphic design job in La La Land this past week, what’s even better my son got one too! She’s been talking to this company since October and the offer finally came through.

Unbelievable! So happy for them, they have been living with us for a year and we all are ready for them to fly on their own.

Proud of them both and wish them nothing but success and happiness. His mother wishes it wasn’t a four hour flight away, (we were hoping for Texas jobs so we had an excuse to move back there) but she’s already looking at flights to go visit!

California bound at the end of February.

Happy Trails kids!

Congrats for your son and DIL. The economy didn't tank as bad in most parts of CA and the recovery has been quicker. Hope they survive the sticker shock when they see how expensive renting and buying a home is, and how bad traffic is. Commuting is very stressful, and sitting in traffic fumes is bad for the respiration system. It would be ideal to find living quarters close to the office.

LMK if you are out this way to visit, and we can plan a meet-up.

Maybe you can find a gig out here too! Is your nest empty now?

Thanks!

They claim rents are similar to Chicago, hahahah, as to traffic?
"Well according to google maps it takes 30 minutes", son I know, I've driven there, I have half a dozen friends there, it takes an hour.

They are in wonder/excitmeant mode, they were warned, lol.

For us to move that way now I don't see being able to do that due to the costs/income for us, I need to work a while longer and my bride has a good job with great benefits plus pension, don't want to lose that.

I think we need to 'shelter in place, until 66 then we can consider a condo somewhere near them. Wherever they may be!

Congrats to you kids Waldo. I know your day will come soon as well. I was replaced by a younger manager about 18 months ago. I was later picked up by a company that was looking for experience as they had grown tired of the younger crowd. A win-win for both me and the company.
