I've been looking to restart my pickle business. As it happens, my cousin texted me this morning asking me what my plans were. She roasts coffee and sells it at a pop up market in an affluent town an hour east of me. She was wondering if I'd be interested in joining their market. They sell twice a week. So I told her I would go their this afternoon to take a look around.

I've never been a serious coffee drinker. I go through periods (take a swing) where I'll drink coffee for a few weeks then quit. I'm not a fan of anything bitter so I add cream (there's another perfect pitch) and sugar when I do drink it.

Anyway, I've been wanting to taste her coffee because I've considered doing holiday gift baskets and great premium coffee would be a natural fit to what I have in mind. So I poured myself a cup and drank it black so I could appreciate its raw flavor. I was certainly surprised by how great it tasted. Smooth as silk without even a hint of bitterness. I ended up drinking 5 cups over a 3 hour period.

She has sourced some green single farm source beans and roasts them herself. Needless to say, I bought a 1/2 pound of whole beans.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

You had a cup of game? Is that like mojo?

The owner of where I work is a coffee hound. He's having a roaster room built in back of the building... his roaster was delivered last week, it's a big sumbitch and the first skid full of beans arrived today. He's going to sell his and donate the profits to his church charity. Named his product "Java Jack".

I hate coffee.

If you don't like bitter coffee, Anth, try pressing it. Not bitter.

Bought an aero press a few months back. Still no comparison. It was like smoking a great cigar. I was able to detect different nuances with every sip.
