just listening to analyst on tv say that america is not celebrating any one person but instead an american constitutional tradition of celebrating the peaceful transfer of power and the office that represents that transition. Thank you rep john lewis for obstructing the american/democratic way! Not sure if this is a civil right, but if it is.....wtf john?

president obama paved the way for trump and a peaceful transfer of power during his news conference this afternoon.

Maybe Lewis is a racist! Since there is no evidence that the russians were instrumental in fixing the election for trump, what else could it be except for racially based?

Yep...there is a racial component. But if we are honest, Trump is more Blackish than Clinton and Obama. Trump exhibits many of the classic characteristics of Black stereotypes. He often uses gutter language; speaks in short, often inarticulate, sentences; doesn't care about his lack of knowledge; rips people off; is frequently called the "defendent," lies a lot; boasts about sexual exploits and molesting women; has divorced and remarried many times; has relied on government assistance; brags about the size of his johnson; trash talks his opponents; loves junk food; thinks too highly of himself; blames everybody but himself...

It's all a deflection. We all know who the sneaky ones are based on Pearl Harbor.

That's right. The Germans. Trump gets it. He just said he trusts putin more than them.

Delta...one of the funniest posts evah!
I think I may start saying Blackish all the time now.

If anyone cares (they don't) I hate to see any boycott of any inauguration. Points can be made during regularly scheduled business hour...imho.

For what it's worth while the boycott is growing to 70 it's really decreasing to 70.

it is my opinion that it was not trump who divided this country
that occurred before he came on the scene and many were instrumental in fanning those flames
he is just an easy target to keep the embers going

well it seems there are quite a few "leaders" and very well off folks who, despite condemning trump for potentially suggesting what you are eluding to, are doing that very thing

there is such thing as a useful idiot
but there is also such thing as a useless idiot
and the latter is much more common

If they hate trump so be it. But this is disrespectful to the office of the president. It is also disrepectful to the people in their state or district who voted for trump.

If they don't want to go I could care less, but the spectacle they're creating shows WHY Cheeto got elected. Democrats don't like real diversity, and are not a big tent party. I hope what they've become gets lost in the dustbin of history.

Just about all the CA dems are not going. They've pretty much resigned themselves to the reality that Trump is coming after the state and are talking about how they can hunker down during the onslaught. Think law-suits to buy time...

Right?

The state did OK during the Bush years, when federal funding fell way off, and few, if any, federal grants were approved. Too many key industries: technology, weapons, aerospace (more weapons), military bases, distribution hubs, farms and dairies, tourism, airports and harbors, are located here. But back then, there were more GOP in power in the state and we had the Governator to help smooth things over with the feds. Nobody in DC likes our current Gov Moonbeam.

CA is one of the few states that can prolly survive on its own without fed assistance. What's the term they use for contributing more revenue to the fed than getting back? Net positive?

Just reading that...so silly...says a lot about this country that many believed it. More than 30% of Americans still believe that Obama is a Kenyan (born there), and a muslim...power of propaganda is an awesome thing...

ditto on the propaganda thing..............that's what john lewis has done.......promoted propaganda against the peaceful transition of power unique almost to the united states. That propaganda and those who are boycotting the inauguration have just put the united states in the same category as iran, iraq, saudi arabia etc., who need a coup to overthrow the existing government. way to go JOHHHHHHHN!

Who really cares if these people attend the Inauguration? It's not part of their job, plus they probably don't care to watch all the B-list talent lined up for the weekend.

the point is....respect the office and peaceful transition of power even if you don't care for the man/woman who holds that office.

I'd be willing to bet that an equal percentage believe that Donald Trump initiated those thoughts ...
.
Interestingly enough, the whole "Kenyan" thing began with Obamas paternal grandmother ... speaking to the press, she was saying how proud she was that her grandson could become President of the US, she went on to say that she could clearly remember his birth, right there in that village and how bad she felt when he was so quickly whisked away and rushed to Hawaii where his other grandparents lived ... oops
.
As for the muslim issue .... there is no doubt that his mother married Lolo Soetoro after which she and "Barry" moved to Indonesia where Barry attended a muslim school where he was admitted when his mother declared to the school that they were muslims ... while there, he attended muslim services and studied Muslimism (?) at school ...
.
Those are the facts ... small surprise that there are many who believe him to be Kenyan and a muslim ...
.
I will add that the Certificate of Live Birth that he produced after as much foot-dragging as we've seen Trump do over his tax returns) is legally the same sort of document my wife had when she first applied for a passport ... the State Department declined to issue her a passport until she produced a Certified Birth Certificate ... inasmuch as she had to secure that document in person from the state in which she was born, she had to make a special trip and go to considerable trouble to obtain the document (mostly waiting time) ...
.
I have no personal knowledge about the circumstances of his birth and only know what his granny had to say ... I DO find it more than a bit curious, however, that he could be accepted as president with a document that the state department would not accept to issue MrsS a passport ...

Funny that you think those are "facts"...
Politifactsuggests that you are wrong.
1) the full tape of the grandmother interview states clearly that he was born in Hawaii
2) he went to a public school in Indonesia... not some sort of school which would require you be Muslim to attend.

... as for the birth certificate... if the state actually says that the certificate is the original birth certificate.... perhaps the certificate you had from a different state was not the original. You know every state does it a little different...

Factcheck.org has an article titled "Donald, you're fired".....here is an excerpt.

The proof is not just the official birth certificate issued by the state of Hawaii, and made public by the Obama campaign in 2008. As we wrote when we published detailed photographs of that document in our "Born in the U.S.A." article, that document constitutes legal proof of citizenship sufficient to meet all U.S. Department of State requirements for issuance of a passport.

I never really investigated the birther thing but your wife could produce this article and tell those mofoes, what's good for the prez is good for her.
