You know what Paul (and others here) You are all right. Trump won and he will soon be our president. I hope he actually has the stones to effectively govern this great country better than those who have preceded him.fog

Julian, I don't think there's any Q about him having the " stones ".....for me it's more a question of rather the entrenched Dems and Pubes will work with him and his cabinet to get good things done. I share your hope that his administration does what is GOOD for our countrymen and country not what is good for the PARTIES

Maybe I phrased that incorrectly. I think the Republicans need to show they have the stones to work with Trump. Since shortly the Republicans will hold almost complete control of all three branches of government it is really all in the hands of the Republicans to work with him.

Totally agree. It is infinitely more difficult to do the work needed to make effective laws that help all Americans. Much more difficult than "just say NO." Much more difficult than continually proposing legislation that accomplishes nothing, just to look busy: ie repeal Obamacare for the ___ # of times, investigate Hillary, name a post office or other public building. Much more difficult than taking the most days off in 60 years, compared to other periods. The Senate averaged a little less than 3 days per week: the House a little more than 2.6 days per week from 2000 to 2016. No wonder the approval polls for Congress is at an all-time low...

Obama proposed several jobs bills during his first term which were sent to Congress for discussion and approval, which the GOP ignored and rejected. They eventually forced him to quit sending stuff to pass. Instead he challenged them to put a jobs bill together, get it approved by both houses of Congress, and he would sign it. The GOP never did...guess they weren't serious THEN to put America to work again...

Trump has talked about jobs proposals similar to those made by Obama to fix infrastructure, that would create hundreds of thousands of good paying jobs. Hope the GOP listens...have sent signals they might...We can only hope...

I think they'll get the credit, and deservedly so. Reagan did a bunch of good stuff and is considered a great American President. I hope Trump can have a similar legacy, even if he does stuff I don't personally like. Be cautious though: too much deregulation can lead to bad things, as Reagan discovered when the Savings and Loan industry collapsed...

Obamacare NEEDS to be repealed and replaced.....PERIOD
They were just trying to limit the amount of damage Barry and his PEN could do in his glorious last year.
Obama created a ****-ton of part time jobs by saddling employers with his ridiculously expensive health care plan for full time employees.

TWO days to go for the destruction of America by President Obama to end.

Oh, and to the 50+ Congress man and women who have chosen to boycott the inauguration "piss off!"

I see that the 50+ are mainly from safe Democratic district's where they will not suffer much politically; all a bunch of gutless hypocrites.

And finally I pulled out a 2003 Camacho Liberty as my celebration smoke for the big day.

If we compare how GWB left the economy to how it is now, Obama's terms left us better off, as a country. Anybody here suffer a major decline in their personal wealth or social status during Obama's term? Not me. I joined this community of elitist cigar smokers and was somewhat welcomed, so my social status has possibly increased? I was able to retire...

But I had problems with GWB...I lost half the net worth of my 503b retirement plan which was valued then at less than my contributions, and roughly 35% of the equity in my home at the end of GWB's term. The 503b has recovered during the Obama years, and now exceeds the amount I contributed, but will never recoup the losses. Sold the house last year for a little more than its highest estimated value before the crash at the end of the Bush term, but we did extensive renovations during Obama's term, so I lost a bunch in equity when we sold.

I actually did have a small 401k from a previous employer... lost all of its value last year except $100... wells fargo auto cashed out my hundred, charged me $73 for doing so, and sent me a check for $27... thanks obama...

Dammm, what was it invested in? Who was managing it?

My SIL's brother also is worse off today than he was at the end of the Bush term. He was employed in the oil industry, maintaining and capping oil drilling rigs. His company was bought by another oil company, and his job as safety manager was cut. After more than ten years working there, they offered him a part-time job working on a rig. He found a similar position as safety manager, at lower pay and in a different industry. He likes the job, but not the pay...

Wells Fargo (hope you weren't one of their customers for whom they opened up dummy accounts without consent to make money off of - thanks Obama?), like all the big banks, are truly robber barons that require regulating. I have bad feelings about Trump's plan to over-turn the Dodd Frank regs enacted to regulate Wall Street and the banking industry. Those basturds will never quit trying to screw all of us out of our money.

Even my GOP friends should tell Trump to "Please don't turn over our hard-earned Social Security and Medicare money to any private (for profit) enterprise, investment/bank/equity industry."

A big +1 on that. Mainly because if those investments lose money the difference will have to be made up from increased taxes if the Republicans also pass a balanced budget law.

it was a wierd thing and I was kidding when I blamed obama...

I didn't even know I had the 401k until a year or so after it started losing money...

I was contracted with a company to do some lab work... I was unknowingly part of a class action against them, and as part of the settlement a 401k was opened in my name...

by the time I found out about it, it was changing hands for the 3rd time... wells fargo took over and wasted no time at all squandering the few hundred I had left...

easy come, easy go...

if it was obama's fault, meh, I've taken advantage of the government a time or two myself... we'll call it a wash...

Just repeating the catch phrases from the two men's inaugurations.

I'm personally cautiously optimistic and hopeful that something positive will come from this change. Trump's rhetoric isn't especially inspiring though...he's prolly convinced potential tourists to stay away from this broken down place...
