If we can scrape up 20 people, then I'm cool for a Wednesday trip. In the end I don't care. Nothing beats a bad day fishing excpet a good day fishing.

$150 to fish
$20-$50 for fish cleaning
$149 for two night's lodging ($149 per night split between two people.
$319-$349 plus tax per

Pretty decent deal for a 12 hour trip. Do they sell booze on board??? Says you can't bring alcohol. Not the same if you cant get drunk an spend half a day pissing over the side while the sea puppies chum for the real men...

I'm gonna head over to Walmart and buy a new pair of sneakers. I'm sure I'll make it if I head out Monday AM. Hopefully, there will be enough sole left to walk back before Christmas.

Was just looking over logistics. Seem like I have a couple of choices. One possibility is flying into San Luis Obispo the day before then make my way over to the hotel. Once people start ariiving the day before (I would think that is what is going to happen since it's 3-4 from anyone that I know is going so far) then we can meet up when folks start arriving. I'd then fly out the day after.

My other option is flying into into one of the major airports a few hours out that's convenient to someone whom I could thumb a ride to and fro the Marina. An other option would be crashing on someone's couch.

Whatever the case I'm looking forward to meeting you guys.

Yes. I usually buy the sportfishing with ocean enhancement. Runs about $54. This year I added the 2nd rod, too, so it was more. I usually use 2 rods anyway... figured I'd just pay for it and be legit this year. BigGrin

Not quite. You can fish 2 rods in the ocean, depending on target species. I think it's more for fresh, and I believe no more than 2 are allowed in the water, though you can carry as many as you want.

My friend and I fish for trout with 2 rods in the water all the time, though... so if I don't have that and DFG shows up, I could get a ticket. They ain't cheap.

Wow. Down here you can pretty much fish with as many rods as you can manage with no extra costs. The serious sac-au-lait (crappie) fisherman run as many as many as 8 rods in boat boats. Basically they have a jig that spreads the rods and points them in different directions.

MACS and/or I can pick you up in SLO on the way up the day before, then drop you off at the airport on our way home the day after. Hopefully his schedule works out so he can make it. If not I plan to go alone so I can grab you on the way up, and drop you off on the way back. Check the rates at Ontario International...it's closest to MACS and me.

The Chargers don't want to succeed, just double in value. One article I read said Spanos pays 650M to move the team but their value will likely go up by $2B once in the new stadium, even sharing it.

Ah wall, SEC football is real football anyway.

I'll keep an eye on this trip, might ride the bike up since I'd probably just give my fish away. Or could get it later from Delta1 or MACS if we ever hook up down here in SOCAL.

I checked there. Those tickets are a bit higher. But, not prohibitively so. So that's an option as well. Between about 6-8 airports, thickets ranged between $400 and $500. SLO and Bakersfield were. It in the $650-$700 range. Heck I found one on United to SAN Diego for $435 that included a first class seat from DFW to SD.

But, until we lock down a date I won't really know. I tried flying in on Mon to Fri and Tues to Thur. I was really surprised that ticket prices from Baton Rouge were within $25 bucks of New Orleans departures since usually there's a bigger price difference. The BR airport is about 20 minutes away. NO is an hour and 15 minutes when I'm driving.

Either works for me. Truth be told the 20th is probably better for me. I'm sure I'll need a few weeks to convalesce after the 'Sip herf.

Have we come up with a date yet?

Looks like we'll have to do an open charter since we don't have enough for a private group.

Perhaps we can have a tee shirt made as well???

I've been slackin on this bad... my apologies...

Looks like enough interest to do this, but possibly not enough interest to do the private charter...

so, here's what I'm thinking, but want everyone's thoughts:

Sunday, May 21st, a public 12-hour trip with 30 total guys on board..., the cost per person would only be $110 each plus rod rental/tackle/fish cleaning/etc... the only difference would be that other people would be on board with us, but that's literally always been a good experience... lots of good guys who know their stuff go fishing on this boat...

lemme know what you think... we could still entertain the idea of the private charter...

***I actually just this second talked to the landing... they said for a 10 hour on Sunday, they could do it for around 2900... so we'd be looking at around $200 each if we got 15 guys together...

Lemme know what you guys think... I'll have more time to focus on this and getting resort prices later this week...

As soon as we nail down a date, I'm gonna by my ticket. Looking to fly in Saturday unless someone wants to get together on Saturday like for an offshore trip in SoCal, hint hint. If so I'll fly in Friday.
