I am a newbie here on this site.
Has anyone noticed that mm from LaPorts Indiana buys
Thousands of dollars on cigars her per week?
They are obviously a shop by south bend. They are most
Likely skirting tobacco tax buy buying
Here. I've counted a couple of thousand dollars on bid today
Alone. I find it hard to believe they buy for personal
Consumption. What is the purchasing policy on cigarbid
On this? Does anyone know.
Who cares?

I, for one, am outraged.
Did you know he lights his Cuban cigars with $100 bills!
He doesn't even smoke the stuff he buys here.........just hands them out to bums and hobos.

Or...

-Could be a shpo.....
-Could be a wealthy, but frugal person, who is buying up cigars he likes, that he thinks will be hard to come by, or very expensive, or both, in the future when the regs kick in.

As far as not believing they are buying for personal consumption?
Um, there's guys here with waaaay over 5,000 cigars..........so......

What did you become "intimate" with in order to father buckets?

Quite frankly I'm far more outraged with your daliances, sir, than i am with that of MM from LaPorts...

The buckets are all adopted.
As I sit and smoke my New World in my garage,
I count 8 buckets. All have a good home now.

I'm trying to see where I stated I was outraged.
Can't see it.
Quite frankly, I'm outraged at you outrage.

There are thousands of us nation wide, all adopted.
It's a sports term.
I can't understand why you posted. Trying to be funny and clever I guess.

I love you for the same reason I love Victor... every once in awhile I start feeling guilty, like I've crossed a line... and then one of you comes along to remind me you both bent that line over, backwards and forwards, long before I came close to crossing it...

Laporte is about 30 minutes from me.

On the other place, donutboy2000 was my nemesis in the underbid game

Isn't the tobacco tax paid when the shop sells the cigar, after they collect it from the consumer?

Hardly skirting taxes at that point.

Honestly, if they are a shop who can keep their inventory up and increase their profit margins by buying here, then more power to them.

not sure about other states, but here you pay your tobacco taxes upfront if you use your wholesale(?) license... you can pay them later if you use your distributors(?) license, but you have to keep a daily inventory if you do that...

oddly enough, it was a guy from illusione who explained that to me the first time... wouldn't deal with anyone from CA with just a wholesale license...

Didn't realize we had two methods here. The person I know who owns a shop does have a distributors license, maybe that's why he never mentioned paying up front.

That sounds about right. States with higher sin taxes on tobacco may differ slightly but very similar..
The tax issue on sales is a PITA, without even getting into the FDA crap.

There really isn't much in La Porte. Nothing special for cigar shop.

As for South Bend a few decent shops, but the owners don't live anywhere near there.

I bumped heads with him a few times over there when I was quite active a few years back. Beat him to the bubble point now and again on a certain lots, which in retrospect, he probably wasn't THAT keen on winning.

Don't know, they have two shpos, Mich City and Hobart, IN. The Mich City one is just a little old wood frame house across from the Outlet Center, very cramped but decent selection. The pic of the Hobart shpo looks to be new and larger, imo.

I didn't think anyone who wasn't from the northeast knew what a pickerel was... but that looks a bit big, prolly a pike or muskie.

My son actually caught it off the dock while fishing for bass
On a silver minnow.
When he saw it, he got scared. He was 11 yo. I landed it for him but he wouldn't pose for a photo, so I did. It his catch not mine. It is a 52" muskie. I got inspired when I saw your avatar. He and I still fish for bass mainly.

I've always used pike and pickerel interchangeably... so maybe you're right about people not from the northeast... what's a pickerel then? Muskee was my second guess....

Edit: i just refreshed my mind via Wikipedia... i did know the difference, just been awhile since i referenced either fish...

What kind of fish is that in bucketgrandpas avatar?

In upper midwest, I didn't know any better, either. Northern pike, Northern, Pike....all interchangeable names for the same fish. When I got to VA and caught my first pickerels, I thought they looked like the hammer-handles of my youth and called them pike....I've been reminded a number of times that the slimy snakes out here are pickerel...no redeeming value, either since they don't grow to trophy Northern size...just toothy, slimy snakes that will bite off your fluoro

I thought you were gone for good.... nice catch, especially for an 11yo... always nice to catch something you're not fishing for too.... not sure why, but it is...

Yep... pickerel are same family, just don't get as big as pike or muskie. They'll eat whatever you use for largemouth bass, be it worms, minnows, or lures. They fight hard, too. Not as easy to unhook... lotsa teeth.

Isn't a pickerel a little flute?
The pike is RT 90, it's a toll road in MA.
And Muskie was a senator from Maine.

And I'm from the northeast, so there!

Indeed, WTF are you talking about? And why would anyone care about the amount of cigars purchased by someone else? fog
