when our supreme court justices start showing favoritism in regards to presidential elections then you know we are screwed

Quote:
In a new New York Times interview, Ginsburg doesn't hold a thing back when it comes to the 2016 election. “I can’t imagine what this place would be — I can’t imagine what the country would be — with Donald Trump as our president,” Ginsburg told the Times' Adam Liptak. “For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.” Ginsburg also recalled something her late husband said about such matters: "Now it’s time for us to move to New Zealand." ...Ginsburg is known for pushing the bounds of a justice's public comments and has earned something of a cult following on the left. But some say she just went too far. "I find it baffling actually that she says these things," said Arthur Hellman, a law professor at the University of Pittsburgh. "She must know that she shouldn’t be. However tempted she might be, she shouldn’t be doing it." Similarly, Howard Wolfson, a former top aide to Hillary Clinton and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, said Ginsburg shouldn't have said it

..."It would cast doubt on her impartiality in those decisions," Hellman said. "If she has expressed herself as opposing the election of Donald Trump, her vote to strike down a Trump policy would be under a cloud." Ed Whelan, president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and who once clerked for conservative Justice Antonin Scalia, has criticized Ginsburg before for her public comments. But he said this one is more indefensible than any of its predecessors. "I think this exceeds the others in terms of her indiscretions," Whelan said. "I am not aware of any justice ever expressing views on the merits or demerits of a presidential candidate in the midst of the campaign. I am not a fan of Donald Trump's at all. But the soundness or unsoundness of her concerns about Donald Trump has no bearing on whether it was proper for her to say what she said." Rick Hasen, a law professor at the University of California at Irvine, said it's valid to question how Ginsburg might have to handle a potential Trump case — up to and including a Clinton v. Trump case.

House Republicans seek Clinton Foundation investigations

(CNN) - House Republicans are circulating a letter that urges several federal agencies to investigate the Clinton family's charitable foundation.

The letter, authored by Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, casts the foundation as "a lawless 'Pay to Play' enterprise that has been operating under a cloak of philanthropy for years and should be investigated."

Blackburn addresses the letter to FBI Director James Comey, IRS Director John Koskinen and Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Edith Ramirez. Her office plans to send it Friday. Its circulation was first reported by The Daily Caller.

In the letter, Blackburn and her co-signatories argue that "the Foundation's activities cannot be ignored."

They point to the foundation's international work, which wasn't cited in the paperwork filed at its 1997 inception.

They also point to organizations receiving State Department grants while paying former President Bill Clinton.

"Public corruption undermines the integrity of representative government and institutions associated with elected or public officials," the House Republican letter says. "However, the failure of government agencies to independently assess and investigate the validity of such allegations can have an even more damaging affect. We ask that each of your agencies review these allegations pursuant to your jurisdictional charge."

A message left with the Clinton Foundation was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon.

A federal official told CNN Tuesday there are several ways a member of Congress can report allegations of wrongdoing. A report may be made directly to an FBI office. A member of Congress also can send the information to the Department of Justice, which would refer the matter to the FBI.

The FBI then assesses the information provided to determine whether it is sufficient to open an investigation. The FBI handles referrals from other law enforcement agencies or members of the general public the same way in looking at whether there is enough information provided to open an investigation.

CNN's Deirdre Walsh and Dan Merica contributed to this report.

What bothers me is the republicans seem to want the election decided by courts, the fbi, or congress. Anything but an election. I think that says a lit about where they are at.

gummy I hate hillary. I don't need to say much about her because I'm with primarily like minded in here on that subject. The Dems are not and have never been an option for me. I've been a life long republican. Some in here will quesiton that, which is fine with me. I assume the other side is ****. I expect garbage out of them. I'm more bothered when my side is **** and there is garbage out of them. Some in here are more comfortable swimming in the **** then I am.

In an unusual move, FBI agents working the Hillary Clinton email case had to sign a special form reminding them not to blab about the probe to anyone unless called to testify.

Sources said they had never heard of the “Case Briefing Acknowledgment” form being used before, although all agents must initially sign nondisclosure agreements to obtain security clearance.

“This is very, very unusual. I’ve never signed one, never circulated one to others,” said one retired FBI chief.

An FBI agent currently on the job admitted, “I have never heard of such a form. Sounds strange.”

Meanwhile, FBI agents expressed their “disappointment” over FBI Director James Comey’s decision not to recommend charges against Clinton, sources close to the matter told The Post.

“FBI agents believe there was an inside deal put in place after the Loretta Lynch/Bill Clinton tarmac meeting,” said one source.

Another source from the Justice Department was “furious” with Comey, saying he’s “managed to piss off right and left.”

Hillary Clinton is facing renewed calls for FBI – as well as IRS and FTC – investigations even after she tried to close the book on her email scandal ahead of her party convention this week in Philadelphia, this time over questions about the tangled dealings of her family’s Clinton Foundation.

A group of 64 House Republicans, in a letter, has asked the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Trade Commission to examine the dealings of the foundation, alleging “criminal conduct” and describing it as a “pay to play” enterprise.

“I don’t know if it would be a super PAC or a for-profit entity,” Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., who circulated the letter, told FoxNews.com. “There sure is a lot of money going through there and it seems the contributions would touch on Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation. It is a hub of some kind of activity and let’s leave it to the IRS, the FBI and the FTC to discern exactly what that is.”

The letter, sent July 15 though not widely reported at the time, focuses primarily on three unresolved controversies, brought up by Peter Schweizer’s book, “Clinton Cash” and New York Times reporting in 2015. They involve the inconsistencies with the foundation’s initial 501(c)(3) filing; the sale of a company called Uranium One; and the Clintons’ ties with Laureate International Universities, a for-profit education company.

“The foundation has routinely gone behind its pledge to act in furtherance of charitable causes and beyond that scope of activities indicated in its initial filings with the IRS,” the letter says. “The appearance of ‘pay to play’ transactions involving Laureate and Uranium One also raise serious allegations of criminal conduct requiring further explanation.”
