In case any of you guys forgot or didn't know, Dan is "The Beer Guy." He started the Beer Wish List thread and has helped many a BOTL get beers they never thought they'd get to try. I personally haven't yet taken him up on his kind offer but as many of you know, shipping beer / liquids isn't the simplest thing to do so a big round of applause (...dayum smiley thingie doesn't work! OUTRAGE!...) goes out to him.

Now let's get to KEELIN' him!

Think Erjaq has probably done more than I. Everything I sent came from one brewery, on my route to/from work, or from my basement brewery.

Dan da Man, when are you gonna post up your likes / wanna try / dislike list? People are gonna send you stuff whether you want them to or not so may as well be stuff that you like or hoping to try some day. Well, unless, of course, you like to be surprised, then it's all good.

I've been trading so much, participating in lottos here and elsewhere, as well as PIB/F that I am almost out of cigars to send. (refuse to regift, even if something I don't want - I'll share it with a friend instead).

Delicious, and cheap.

Or if he goes for more premium tobaccos, delicious and not cheap.

I'm a huge fan of the Odysseys and Genesis. Genesis is the only cigar I've had that I've bought a second box. And that one's almost empty. Odysseys going to hit second box soon,

Should give us a heads up as far as some of his likes and the fact that he's L-O-W!!!!!!

Fine.Anxious

There's so much I've never tried, I can't really say like/wants/dislike. I don't even really know what I want to try because I haven't narrowed down exactly what I like.

THe only cigars I've pitched early for flavor have been cheap bundle gurkhas. Have pitched others for hard draw and low smoke output.

Preference: easy draw, med-full/full flavor, med-full/full strength, good smoke output, not ultra-premiums (they'll be wasted on me, seriously. I just don't have the appreciation deserving of those kinds of cigars.) That's about it. I really haven't smoked enough cigars to really know. First premium I loved enough to pay msrp at B&M several times over was LGC Serie R No 6. First cigar I liked enough to buy a box was Oliva O. Second was RB Genesis or MUWAT Bait Fish

If you wanna share beers: favorites are the big beers - russian imperials, barleywines, oak aged stouts etc. But really any local or home brews in full-flavored styles i.e. no pilsener/american wheat/etc. Wife gets the beer trades though, so I can't promise a timely review on em if that's what you want - she ages a lot of bottles of HTF/LTD beers and it's up to her when they get opened.

Lastly: be nice. And bomb erjaq, he deserves it.

I don't necessarily believe this, Dan. Do you retrohale? It will open up a world of flavors to you, and the difference when you get to the premium level would be hard to miss. There are tasty and inexpensive cigars out there, sure, but the good stuff is the good stuff for a reason.

I do.

I think the issue is, at my core, I'm a huge cheapskate. I'd not paid more than $500 for a car until my current pickup truck that I paid $1k for in 2010. I bought a house with 4' of water in the basement and a collapsed foundation because it was cheap. I really hate spending a dime more than I have to for the intended experience.

I've had a few top shelf cigars, and it truly is lost on me. For one, knowing that the cigar cost more than $10 box price detracts from the experience. I just feel really guilty taking a flame to something like that. Buying one and sharing/gifting is one thing. I'd be willing to buy and gift an ultra premium to certain people, but they're not for me. I just don't get that much more enjoyment from smoking a top shelf cigar over a mid to justify the cost increase.

Yet. (beer and bourbon eventually converted me to the top shelves - but then again I just brew my own premium beers for half the cost. If only I could legally distill...)

Fair enough. I don't smoke them all the time (although I would if I could), and I'm still finding my way through the cigar world and figuring out what I like, but for me the difference is almost always noticeable. I'd say I've enjoyed 90% of the quote-unquote premiums I've tried, about 50% of the mediums, and maybe 10% of the cheapies. Even the good cheapies are rarely complex, and I know that given your beer preferences that you enjoy complexity of flavor, and that you have a good palate, etc.

But I digress....BOMB DAN.
