Depending upon the size, at current (obscene) pricing you smoked a $100 cigar. With some age, probably more.
56's are $110.

Cohiba pricing has become stupid over the past month or so, pretty much across the marca...not just Behike.

Yep, that's why I was happy to indulge- it was a 56. Probably not likely I'll ever buy any for myself given the coin they demand.

Had that issue on just one or two. It was a frustrating disappointment for sure.
Fortunately tho, I've smoked several (25+) that have been brilliant.

Partagas Serie P #2. Not sure of the age, as I got this one at a herf. But I've had it for about a year, so...

Razor sharp burn, perfect draw, loads of smoke, and strong Partagas flavor.

Diplo #2 - Feb '16

Straight off the truck. Dark, oily wrapper. Nice, medium draw. Lots of smoke. Not tannic or bitter at all.

I'd like to say that with a few years of age... blah, blah, blah... I only got 1 box. They ain't gonna last a few years.

I had half a 2013 box and half a 2008 box about a year or two ago. Both gone now, but I felt that I waited too long with the 08's...which was a shame cuz they were real good a year earlier. Not that they were bad, but seemed like they passed their peak.

That can happen year to year with some of the milder Havanas. Diplo is a French market cigar. Mild, but flavorful. Doesn't surprise me they went south early.

Now if you want to put some age on a cigar and have it get really good... drop a box of Boli CG's in the bottom of the cooler. IMO every bit as good as an Esplendido... 60% the price.

I love me some Monte's... but I believe the Diplo 2 is more consistent than the Monte 2. YMMV

sadly Montes are all over the place, even in the same box. But a good one is maybe the best.

Apparently, Diplos were blended as an alternative to the Monte in the sense that they originally came in all the same sizes. No attempt was made to match the flavor profile, just the size.

The monte open is the milder version of the monte blend. Everyone says they suck.

People are saying that the current production of Dip #2s are one of the most consistently excellent cigars coming out of Cuba right now. I don't go through enough cigars to say anything myself, but I do have a box of '15s that are certainly among the best cigars I've purchased this year.

With all the talk, decided to ash up:

Diplomaticos No. 2 - gifted by Frankie last May. Frank wasn't sure if this was from his 2008 or March 2013 box - regardless, it was delicious and very much appreciated. Mahalo Frankie! ThumpUp

Thanks Bart! Was the perfect cigar to end a night of camping while in front of a fire.

They may be slightly milder than Monte but they can age beautifully. Julian sent me a Diplo #1 ARA May '01 recently from winning his Motor Sports contest. This 15 year old Diplo was one of the most flavorful Cubans I have had in a long time. Thanks Julian!

and NOW they are gone!
Glad to hear it was one of the good ones.
