Being a noob, I can still keep track. Kinda.

When I had my first really good cigar, and realized I was hooked, I started saving the bands and writing little notes on em. Date, and "grades" a through f. And if there was room, maybe a detail. I started doing this before I learned of the proper terms for "tasting notes" so some read "hard pull, burnt hair" others "good cheap beer gar" and on.

I still keep track of every stick I smoke with a note on the band. Usually just a date.

To the point, got a box on my porch from cbid with about 30 cigars (just in time, only had 7 left) and wife asked why I needed 30 cigars. I explained the need to acclimate them to the proper environment before smoking and that by the time I get through the last of what I have in two to three weeks, these might just be about ready. She rolled her eyes n walked away. (She will take a puff or two and has commented some are good/bad- actually has good taste, just not interested)

TL;DR - I counted my saved bands and had 77 unique bands and 32 repeats. 109 cigars since I've learned to enjoy cigars sometime around late spring early summer 2013.

Anyone else have an approximation of how many sticks they've burned? I now have about 40 on hand (lots of open trades, hope this will increase a bit) and now that I have cleared the garage for smoking, have been burning 5 a week. Will probably slow some once the weather breaks but for now its my "fun time"

I have no idea. In the last year, I probably smoked over 200. I vacillate in my enthusiasm for cigars. In 2010, for example, I probably smoked 3 or 4. The next year, I was smoking at least one per day. I've smoked none in the last week and a half, but I have a fake Cuban calling my name today, so I'll smoke it later.

Around 8,000 and counting, not including swisher sweets, backwoods and a lot of crappy cigars smoked early on. I also smoked a pipe primarily for at least a decade or so. If you add the crappy cigars and the ones I forgot about it's gotta be about 10,000. I began keeping a list a few years ago, mainly so I wouldn't buy any more cigars that I already smoked and didn't like.

4-10 a day depending on weather for the past decade or so. 2-4 a day the previous decade.

So yeah that's more than a few!

My best guess is 400. I have been smoking 4 years. 2011 was my biggest. Probably around 200. This year I smoked 20 in January and 5 since. Very inconsistent in all of my habits.

Similar story here. Really getting into cigars at the moment but as the seasons change, other hobbies will take priority.

Average about 2-3/day for the last 16 years @ maybe $5 each.

As Everet Dirksen once said: A billion here a billion there and pretty soon it adds up. Think

Been smoking real cigars for nearly 4 years, and averaged one a day for first two years, about one and a half (some days one and 2 on other days, usually weekends) for about a year. Now I'm smoking at least two per day. That makes about 1,600 - 1,700.

A local that I used to go to when I first started getting into smoking last year gave me his monthly calendar and suggested I tape the bands onto the dates that I smoked. It's kinda nerdish but kinda fun to got back and see how my tastes have changed. I'll probably continue to do this for this year but most likely stop after this year.

For this topic I'd guesstimate 300 "real" cigars lifetime.

Started smokin handmades in Nov, 2010. With some quick approx math, probably somewhere between 1300-1500 sticks. With many more to come....and yes, my first sampler was some gurkhas... Live and learn

I now have more on hand than I've ever had before, and it's 50% of all the cigars I've ever smoked.

Sat down tonight with a calendar and glued the bands onto the dates I smoked em on, and put a note with those I could remember/transcribed notes from the bands that had em.

Pretty surprised at how varied my tastes have been even in the short time I've been smoking.

Started smoking cigars in 1992. Casually at first. Some handmades, but many machine made. Got more into the whole thing in 1995. Smoked around 1-2 handmades per week.

In 2002, found this place and started smoking more. Maybe as many as 5 per week. Have switched my preferences to pipes, but still occasionally smoke cigars.

Maybe 1000-1500 handmade cigars total? Hundreds of machine made also. Have smoked my way through a couple dozen different tins of pipe tobacco.

No Richard not giving them up altogether...Hell NO, more of a commentary on health wise.....
A guy with my handle ( too many cigars, too little time) doesn't just quit smoking these wonderful little rolled up weeds!! But a cut back IS in order for me. Just recovering from a vile bout with the Flu and haven't been able to enjoy one lately ( but I think I might head out shortly and try to enjoy one. Hope you are well Richard

Without having to think real hard and do some real math, gonna guesstimate my count to be at least 2,500.

I know I've had 840ish different blends and/or vitolas. So, guessing with repeats somewhere in the 2500 range

At this point, I’d say about 30-35. Didn’t smoke more than 5 a year until I joined this forum. Now I smoke about one a week. Still figuring my likes and dislikes.
