Beetle Damage?

Does this look like beetle damage? I opend up this 5 Vegas Serie 'A' Anomonly the other night and upon removing the cedar sleeve was confronted with this sight. Going back I looked at the cellophane and it had holes where it was folded on the foot. I looked around in the tuperdor for any signs as well as examined the other cigars in there and couldn't find other evidence of beetles. If this is beetle damage, should I be concerned about the others and put them in the freezer? Or does it sound like it may have come from the manufacture that way and is no longer an issue?

Hard to tell from picture, but how deep are those marks?
Did you look at the inside of the cedar sleeve for the reverse of those marks?

Possibly...Rough shipping/storage, perhaps higher humidity which would cause splitting at the foot, but not beetles.

I've had beetles eat right up the capa on a cigar before, just like that. If it hatched in that cigar, it probably emerged out the foot, rather than boring it's way out, then turned and ate the capa and in parts, the capote - notice the different depths and how it looks to be ground, or rather gnawed, out?

Plus you said there were holes in the cello.

If that's shipping damage, where are the flakes of tobacco that cracked off the wrapper? Not to mention, wrappers don't crumble in nice rounded edge patterns like that. Tends to be jagged, and there wouldn't be the divots in the capote.

I'd say it's pretty good odds that you are, in fact, looking at beetle damage so I'd freeze everything in that tupperdor just to be safe.

Don't worry, if they have any tastes whatsoever, your stash of Gurkhas will be safe.

LOL.

On a serious note, I don't think PI freezes their cigars. I recall reading an interview with Rolando Reyes Sr a number of years ago where he stated that he didn't freeze his cigars. Of course that was then, and things may have changed since, I don't believe that he is running the company anymore, but it's his son now, so who knows. Or the vendor might freeze too BTW.

Looks like a picture of a female, sitting on her butt with her knee hiked up. She is facing down.

LOL

I agree, that looks like beetle damage.
