Thread restarted from cigar related thread. So its white and brushes off not leaving any stain on the wrapper. I think its plume.

mold. as long none has entered the foot of the cigar just wipe it away and smoke. (If it was the blueish mold I would just toss it)

plume is more like a light dusting of powdered sugar over the cigar

I agree def. mold....I had a LA aurora red tube this past weekend with plume on it. It looks more liks dust but a little harder to wipe of then dust. IF i didn't nub it down to the last 3/4 inch I could have sent a pitcher.

Like the other said, Plume would cover the gar or areas of the gar just like dust would cover something that's been sitting for awhile. Not in blotches or dots like in the pic.

Yep mold......I find this frequently with AF Chateau SG's just under the cedar wrap.Always white and is easily wiped off.To date it has not affected the cigar IMO.I have also found that Montecristo Habana's are prone to this.Again I wipe it off and no ill effects.

That is mold, however,it is not blue mold, which will cause taste changes in the cigar.
The white mold, while not disireable, doesn't affect taste. Just brush it off and you're good to go. Xfog

LOL FML. The cigar came like that from my local cigar shop only the ones in the tube have the acclaimed plume. None of the other cigars in the shop do....Why would that be and why the hell would they say its plume? The RH in my humidor has never gone over 72 and is currently at 68 -69. Luckily none of my other cigars have been affected. Probably because its in a tube. So I should brush it off and put back in the humi to see if it comes back?

100% mold.

Plume is rather rare. You will know it when you see it (compared to this pattern of mold).

In any event, plume, in and of itself means little to nothing. Most properly stored and aged cigars never exhibit it but still smoke very well.

Wipe it off and smoke it right away to prevent anything from contaminating your other cigars. Get the others and those that it came in contact with out of your humi. Right away! Smoke them away to get rid of them fast...

Humidity is not the only factor for cigars to acquire mold. Many cigar smokers think that bottled water is okay to put in a humidification sysytem. Not saying that is what happened at your local shop, but there maybe contaminated water somewhere in the packing process. Nevertheless, your local shop should not be selling affected smokes and pawning them off as prize vitolas. Find another shop to give your business to and tell the salesperson that he's/she's an azzhole!

Dunhill Cabinetta CC.......100 pts

The 30th Anniversary Cohiba CC.......100 pts.

Davidoff Château d'Yquem CC......100 pts.

They're out there.but taste is subjective, one man's 100 point cigar may be worth 90 points to you. Buy and Smoke what you like . That's the best advise I can think of. Everyones tastes differ.

Sounds like you stopped by Epitome and talked to Pat...They keep their RH WAY to high and I have seen what they have sold as "plume" on many a great cigars.

If you got this from Craig & gang at The Cigar Shop...I would say you need to mention it to them on next visit. That is a first for me to see a molded cigar coming out of there...but it can happen to anybody.

They might not like to hear it but they should. You are the consumer and without your business they don't have one.
I had this happen once before at a local here and the owner was more than happy to replace the product and actually gave me a freebie on top of the replacement. These shops have alot of money tied up in product and I think they would want to know if there is an issue with their product regardless if it came to them like that or if there is an issue at the store.

Just go back and inform him of what you found without insinuating blame and I'm sure he'll be happy to make it right.

All three rated '100' by CA. BBBBBUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT.......they are cuban cigars(CC) AND they are VINTAGE sticks. They are hard to find and they cost an arm and a leg to get.

Thats exactly what my local B&M does and it's bad mold, like green growth mold. It is on most of their more expensive and even htf smokes................it reaks of mold in there and they have a great selection. Pretty sad.

If you bought tghat at the Cigar Shop please bring it back, we would like to see it. We have checked every single Zino in a tubo and we did not find anything with mold.
