well I just hung from a call from my accountant..

He started the conversation with I have good news and bad news which do you want first ?

I said to give me the bad news first... (we just started a new business last year)

He replied that after deductions your net personal income was only $xx,xxx. So your officialy poor! So now you are a DEMOCRAT...

The good news is you only have to pay $800 in Federal Taxes!!!

I guess being poor has it's advantages!!!

Of course I wish he said I owed $200,000 in taxes and that was still a Republican! LOL

Don't ruin an entertaining story about someone venting their financial woes by nastily over-politicizing it.

This being a Democrat thing could be fun?? heck I haven't been a "Democrat" since the 70's !!!! (Fun Times, Disco, and living on what today would cover utility bills!!!)

There are a couple of steps you need to take:

1) Get pregnant for the fifth time in four years;
2) Claim your bajingo is broken and intestines are on the outside and you can't work
3) Get pregnant for the sixth time
4) Get foodstamps and buy beer and Dorito's
5) Claim "da man" is keeping you down and wail your arms around like you're having a seizure
6) Get pregnant again (it's the law - deal with it)
7) Demand free housing and food
8) Go to work for ACORN
9) Repeat steps 1-8........

Topper, you still ARE a Republican, my friend. Don't worry. Besides, didn't you write off $100,000+ in fat cat cigars for medicinal purposes and gifts?!Frying pan

PS: Congrats on your "first year" of survival btw. 3 out of 5 businesses fail within 3 years (probably worse now), but with your pedigree I think you'll do well.

You mean I can deduct my cigar purchases, heck I would owe NOTHING then!!! LOL

Thanks, we are in the black, making enough to pay for my electric bill and utilities, now if we could pay for our cars and food not to mention cigars! d'oh!

We have sold 8 territories so far, (1 closed) so we have 7 now, we had a great start but haven't added any new franchises in several months... My magic number is about 12 territories open..after about 2 or three years open they should generate a pretty good revenue stream... as long as my bank account lasts that long!!! (Bloody, I'm a master franchise in the Senior in home care business). I miss the car business, but certainly not the hours and aggravation that went with it)

Well, duh. The right wing f*ck-nuts on this board would rather have their little circle jerk of 'look how great we are' bs then actually discuss issues. Been that way for a long, long time. It's why you see insults for those who disagree with them rather than a discussion of the issues in a rational way from them.

What? You're kidding right? Saying that Democrats are poor and don't pay taxes is not supposed to be a 'polarizing statement of politics' especially when posted on the politics board?

Well, that's the thing, it's not funny. It may be funny to a teabagger who thinks all Democrats are poor and don't pay taxes, but it's not funny because there isn't a ring of truth to it. It's a prejudicial statement and because you think it's funny shows your prejudicial attitude. It's the same thing as a racist joke to be honest. A racist will find a n***er joke funny, but most people won't. Or if I would make a joke about how today I'm a Republican because I ran over some poor people who were waiting in line for free food. Just stupid.

I was sufficiently annoyed by the tired, old and demonstrably wrong characterization. One way to prove it's wrong is blue states consistently send more tax money to Washington than they get back where red states get back more than they contribute. And I haven't been under a rock in a really long time.

It is the Republicans in the "blue states" that are the ones paying the taxes.

Yes blue states pay more taxes. Because their tax rates are outrageous.......
why do so many move to FLA, TN, GA, TX?? For work because companies can't afford to do businesses in blue states.
Not everyone can be a kept man and not work because his family is nursing home slumlords. If it wasn't for your wife you would be on welfare or unemployment NOT paying taxes.

I always enjoys your posts unless you delve into automotive minutiae then you lose me. LOL

Btw, I remember your mentioning the in-home senior care service. IMHO, that's a perfect industry for future growth potential. We work with several Visiting Angels franchises in the Colorado area.

Not leave Cbid, just stay off the Politics Board... Just too F**king much fighting here... Brings out the axxhole in folks.... Or maybe it just highlights it!! I guess the only thing I like better about the 2.0 version of the board is at least it segregates the BS !!

So Democratic states pay more in taxes, yet the Democrats don't make money or pay taxes. Got it. If everyone moves to red states we'd all be broke, and no one here would have jobs. Yet, our unemployment rate is better than than most here in the north east. Why? A more educated work force, with that you get higher paying jobs, higher paying jobs we pay more taxes.

And my family does not own nursing homes. You have misremembered.

As far as me being on welfare without her, I doubt it as I had a career. I'm not going to go into all the things I did in the financial industry before I was 27, but there aren't too many who at that age are offered a senior vice president position.

When we had kids, like many families, one parent decided to stay home. It's just that in our case it was the father. Your fixation on that is bizarre.

Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

Top states with government employees as a percentage of population:

Wyoming - 22%
Alaska - 20.8%
New Mexico - 19.9%
Mississippi - 18.9%
North Dakota - 16.8%
West Virginia - 16.7%
Kansas - 16.5%
Idaho - 16.4%
New York - 16.3%
Nebraska - 16%

The states that pay the most taxes are the states that have a higher cost of living and therefore higher salaries. These tend to be more urbanized states.

The idea of red state/blue state was invented by election night media. Most state voter registration is pretty close to 50/50. (and the Republicans pay the taxes!)

If you lump city, county, state and Federal into a single entity, the answer would be "government". This would apply for all 50 states regardless of tint.

"Government" is now 40% of GDP.
