Does anyone out there collect cigar bands? There is an interesting range of quality in the artwork. It doesn't always correspond to the quality of the cigar. Montecristo comes to mind; great cigar with a very plain band. I think it could be an interesting hobby similar to stamp collecting.

You'd not believe the bands I've got collected and I know a number of others who've done likewise ... most of us have absolutely NO idea what the hell we're gonna do with them either ... LOL

They are very cool, but only to another cigar smoker. I was thinking of maybe putting them in a photo album-type binder, flattened under plastic. Or pinned to a cork board. I don't know. Is there a conventional method? Should they be left circular or should I bust the glue and lay them flat? Only another cigar nut would care, and probably not many of them.

I have two or three cigar boxes full of them. I plan some day (ha - some day) to refurbish an end table or maybe convert something into a humidor, and I'd like to mount the bands on the top then cover with a heavy lacquer. Hey, until then at least it gives me something to do with my empty cigar boxes!

My wife puts them in frames on a black background covered by glass. Looks cool

What kind of glue, if any, should be used?

As SteveS says, there are a few of us with band collection with no idea what we are going to do with them. I believe one technique used to apply bands to a surface is with shelac? Yes? Hmmm? Well?

Personally I prefer to collect Blues Bands. I've got 3 in the closet now. They don't mind the smoke and are happy with a six pack. (Sometimes they bring their own smokes, he,he,he)
