1) Are there any humidors I should stay away from due to quality issues. I like the el rey I see on here regularly.

2) What are some recomendations for a beginner. So far I like most punch I tried, about half the Fuentes I tried, The CAO anniversaire extreme, I also tried a carbonnal that was so sweet it almost tasted like a mix of sugar cane and tobacco.

3) Besides here and CA what are some good resource sites.

4) What are some good resource books?

5) What is steves address so I can send him a lone wolf?

Thanks

Defjam,

IMO, the best resource site is right here. I think you'll find it very difficult to find a group less snobbish and more knowledgable than the c-bid forum folks.

The best part is that very seldom will someone use a word that contains more than 3 syllables. Most of the people here are very philanthropic and the vernacular in use is not out of the ordinary.

I have a question.....

I just bought a new 300 cigar humidor, but the humidifiers and the hygrometer refuse to stay attached to the top. What can I do to get them to stay put in the lid where they belong?

what? ... no cello on or cello off on that list ??? ... damn, what kind of a newbie question list is THAT?

I think you'll find that lots of questions can be answered by reading old posts here ... and a side benefit that brings is that you'll get to know a lot of the personalities of the others who're on here ... I recommend that to your attention ...

I've been on some of the other boards too and have found none of them to be as consistently informative as this one and the regulars on them to be far less personable than the bunch here ...

oh, btw ...tarjeel ... I don't use any of the hygrometers that came with any of my humis ... I got a digital and move it from one box to the other each day ... as for the humidifier, I don't use those anymore either ... I made my own to put into each box ... if I load the cigars carefully, it doesn't take up too much space and it works better than the original ... plus, doing so has reduced the fussing around I always had to do with that little one ... mine requires attention far less often ... some of the other guys have done the same ... CWilhelmi and I were talking about that earlier this afternoon and he's done some very imaginative things beyond what I've done to cut down on the space they take up ... I'll drop you a note when I've got the time and fill you in ...

SteveS, Are you saying that you don't use a humidor? Just put a humidifying thingie in each box? I've thought about doing that. What kinda humidifying thingie you use?

As for attaching hydrogimeter (I don't think I spelled it right, too many syllables) to the lid of the humidor what I do is glue a small magnet to the hydrogimeter and one to the lid of the box and just stick it on. It's slicker than velcro --works for a credo too.

Oh yeah, Defcon, Lone Wolves are okay, CAO Extremes are deadly poison. If you wanna real premo smoke try Swisher Sweets--and leave the celo on.

throw it away and make your own for a buck or 2 that will work better.

Sure I use a humidor ... several of them ... I just don't use any of the hygrometers or humidifiers that came with them ... I use a digital hygrometer and as I said, move it from one humidor to the other each day ... also, as mentioned, I made my own humidifiers to put into each humidor ... they work better than the original humidifiers and require one hell of a lot less attention ...
