Just got a box of Mantequlla Tapa Negra. Nicaraguan with a Ecuador Sumatran wrapper but the head is rewrapped with a pig-tailed Maduro leaf. Really neat looking cigar with interesting flavor. A little something for everyone. Excellent construction, smooth, easy draw and an even burn. Nice medium to full bodied smoke with nice little kick at the end.

CI ought to see about getting some of these!

I saw those at that "other" big cigar retailer's catalogue this month and they looked very interesting. Always liked to try something different, thanks for the tip.

The Tapa Negra is both. It is wrapped in an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The inch and a half or so from the head is re-wrapped in a CBL maduro wrapper. Hence the name Tapa Negra (Black Top). You may be referring to the regular Mantequilla line, which comes in both maduro and EMS. I like the XX maduro alot, but it needs to dry out a bit and a month or so of aging time. Both lines are a great buy.
