These cigars probably don’t thrill any of you old timers and I don’t think I’ll buy any more of them but I can say I’ve enjoyed smoking them. They’ve all been beautifully constructed, mild, well balanced and what flavor I detected was very nice.

If you're enjoying yourself, keep on.

I've tried to be a cigar snob, it's expensive. Ive also spent $10-20 on "high end" cigars that i did not enjoy. I have a lot of fun smoking stuff I get cheaply but with an educated guess based of blend and blender - if you like something from a certain blender, explore them. Example: I really liked old Camacho. Saw Aladino cigars was a newer brand from an old Camacho blender. I asked about them here, and tried em - spot on what I like.

Right now I'm going through some cheap brands from Raymond Pages. He's a new guy but is turning out some great cigars at a great price too.

Just beware as you smoke more, your tastes will probably change and you don't want to be sitting on 500 cigars you no longer want to smoke.

80817 Hoofty Hellbound. This is a bizarre cigar. I both don't like it but yet am very intrigued and keep smoking it. Lots of flavors I don't know that I've had in a cigar or that they go together. Citrus and cookies are two that are really sticking out for me. It's strange.

It reminds me of something I had years ago while sitting on my front porch when the boy was little and running through the sprinkler. I want to say it was either a Caldwell or Warped and I felt the same way. Didn't really like it but it was so weird I kept going.

Jeebling, you should check out and get active in the n00b PIB thread and you'll be able to try lots of good cigars. I was introduced to some of my favorite cigars through trades with others here. Give it a try.

Thanks Pops. I’ll snoop around and find out what it’s all about.

Thanks, Dan. I’m keeping a journal, keeping track of wrappers and fillers and origin It’s a premade cheap cigar journal that is more than sufficient for my needs, although I’m running out of pages Herfing
I found out that I like AJ Fernandez. I like Sumatra and Camaroon and I like a lot of the cigars with Nicaragua tobacco. I’m definitely spreading my wings and I’m keeping it to 5 or 10 cigars on the new smokes I haven’t tried. As I’ve said, I do have a couple boxes of smokes like Aging Room and La Gloria that I got because I want to age them. But I take your advice and will avoid loading up on something I “think “ I like.
I appreciate reading your comments on what you smoke by the way.

I post notes here and sometimes look back at them especially if it's something new I'm trying. It's my public cigar journal.

Also I need to follow my own advice at times too. Recently bought two boxes instead of singles or fivers because I was certain I would like them and they were cheap enough. I did not like them and I gave away most of two full boxes to my father in law who keeps cigars in the fridge and will suck down a churchill in 30 minutes. He loves when I give him "fancy cigars". In the end I spent $200 on 4 or 5 cigars I did not enjoy. Even though price per goes up as the quantity goes down, spending the extra couple bucks for a single or fiver instead of a fiver or a box can save you a lot more money.

Damn danm. Preach. Solid advice from last page on through.

Some I need to also take myself. Solid man.

80818 Caldwell Savages toro from Corey. I was digging through my stash and found this. I’ve wanted to try one forever. Knew you sent one. Then buried it in other smokes. Thank you. Good un!

And Conan needs a pork chop Sammy!

80820 Buena Vista - this isn't the old buenavista that was a fantastic cigar. Brand got sold, branding unchanged, was surprised to get them for under $4per. But it tastes like a $3 cigar. Construction is perfect. Flavor is bland, body is thin and one note. It is a habano wrapper which isn't my favorite out the gate but there's just nothing here. I can't even call it one-note because there's nothing playing. I see the smoke, I smell the smoke. I don't taste it, I don't feel it. Disappointed. Tossed halfway. Gonna try another new one

80821 Last of my kind. Another unique profile. Heavy mineral notes, strong sharp molasses to start settled into a sweetened bitter coffee but without the cream. Burnt sugar maybe. Some wet hay and Hoppes #9 are heavy midway but not in an unpleasant way. I think this one needed time to rest from its travels hopefully the bitterness subsides. Reminds me of overcooked homemade caramel candies. It's not bad, I took it down to 2" but I wouldn't say it punches above its price point.

Danm and Corey:

80826 - LFD Colorado Oscuro (another)

The 1st I ever had was about 10 years ago. It was a freebie given out at the Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival. (maybe just released?) I enjoyed these so much I bought a box soon after and smoked about half the box but then they got shoved into the back of the 1200 count end table humidor and forgotten until last week when I did some rearranging. Fantastic smoke with a long aftertaste like char broiled steak. Drool

80827 - AF Añejo toro. They call it a #60. Can somebody tell me what this means? At first, I thought maybe it has something to do with the measurement, like in millimeters, but it's way too small to be 60mm in diameter and way to long to be 60 mm in length. That's a dumb name.

80829 L'atelier la Mission 1959 with thanks to Stogie1020.

Smoking outside on the deck again cause it's a beautiful 60 degree sunny day. Cigar is fantastic. Typical MSA flavors - big pepper with some bitterness but balanced with sweet creamy notes makes me think of like bbq bark. This is an MSA done right.

I will add more of these to my hoarde.

Yah, for whatever reason there’s no rhyme or reason why the #60 is called that. Most of the other vitolas are named for their ring gauge except for the #77 Shark and the #888.

Mebbe a Fuente expert like DED can enlighten us of the reason / backstory? Think

Stogie gave me one of those a while back, and I liked it a lot. Gonna add some to my own stash when I get more space.

It's actually a 6 1/4 X 48 Corona Gorda IIRC. The last size introduced in 2011 but I have no knowledge of why they call it a 60 or the shark a 77. Better ask Jr.

Extracted from a review from another site:

"The Fuente Shark, also called the No. 77, is named for its shape. The cigar’s contours resemble the fins of a shark, as does the number 77 – an epiphany that came to Carlito Fuente during a trip to Sea World in Orlando, Florida, when he was observing a pair of sharks with his children."

What the sharks were doing with his children one can only guess.

I think it's the site. This topic is too big and I have suggested before that they split it an archive the first 50,000 cigars into and archived topic. I'm sure it would make tine travel easier for Palama.

80840 - AB Tempus natural I've had in the humi for about t year and I'd say it helped. Mild smoke with some natural sweetness. Light cinnamon and maybe baking spice. Not a hint of pepper. Second half made a go toward some added strength, but it stayed solidly in mild territory Would probably be a pleasant morning smoke, but I don't think it would hold up to a strong cup of coffee...

You’re right danmdevries…it is enjoyable though, getting to taste a different cigar and finding others that I enjoy.

80846: La Harencia Cubana 6.5 x 52. This one was flatter than what I remembered from the others. Pretty much straight up mild sweet tobacco with occasional hints of cedar and nuts. I enjoyed this cigar with a large portion of Sauvignon Blanc that was dry and I thought it was a fair pairing.
