On November 20,1945 the Nuremberg trials started 6 months and 12 days after the end of the war in Europe. Here it is one year after Saddam is captured, over 18 months since the "end of major combat operations" and we can't get Iraqi trials going.

907 US killed, almost 9,000 wounded since the "end of major combat operations". Aren't our boys lucky all the major combat is over with.

I love it when a plan comes together.

War is long, deadly, and unpredictable. It sucks, but is a necessary evil.

i think the difference is a treaty being signed by all participants of the war. there was global support for the trials back then. these days, there's no global support for the effort in iraq. there aren't enough countries contributing to the stabilization of the region to get things done as quickly as we'd like.

More to the point, the Nazi's were tried by an international tribunal ... our intention is to have Sadaam tried by the government of Iraq but as yet, there is no government of Iraq ... his trial will come after one is in place, whenever that might be ...

I'm a vet and my son is serving right now so this is personal, however tragic each is, the numbers are low. There are more Americans murdered by junkies every year then have beem killed in Iraq. If I recall correctly there are about 60,000 deaths every year in car accidents. I certainly don't mean to trevialize any death but this is part of the price of our freedom. Every radical that decides to fight our troops over there is one less to cause grief over here. The radical Muslim movement is much less effective today because, at any moment, they have to be concerned about a Delta trooper drawing a bead on them.
